Chadwick Boseman has been awarded as the best actor at the just ended virtual Gloden Globe awards night and his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward accepted the award in an emotional speech.

The late American actor, Chadwick Boseman and his wife, Taylor Simone Ledward.

The late Chadwick Boseman’s estate is set to be evenly split between his widow and his parents, following the actor’s untimely passing in 2020.

The Black Panther star, who was only 43 at the time of his death, left behind a $2.3 million fortune, after taxes, funeral, legal, and lawyer fees were subtracted.

According to some reports, Boseman did not have a will at the time of his passing, leaving his reported $2.3 million estate to be split evening between his widow and singer Taylor Simone Ledward-Boseman and his parents Leroy and Carolyn Boseman.

Ledward-Boseman was appointed as the estate’s representative in November 2020, but with limited authority. She asked the court to equally distribute the ’21 Bridges’ star’s estate amongst herself and his parents.

In legal documents obtained by some media outlets, the California State Polytechnic University alum asked to be reimbursed for funeral costs, including a $9,500 fee for the venue, $10,000 for the funeral service, and $1,275 she spent for the flower arrangement.

Ledward-Boseman also asked for reimbursements for a $7495 expense for a mausoleum crypt at the Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Anderson, South Carolina, and the $22,000 she dished out to buy mausoleum crypts for Boseman’s parents, who will reportedly be laid next to their son.

Ledward-Boseman shared that Boseman’s estate totaled $3,881,758.31, including several residual checks that have come in since March 2021. Payments included a check for $187,000 and three more payments in 2021 totaling $14,000. A final check arrived last March for the amount of $2,453. She noted that no real estate tax is due on the estate’s behalf, and all California and federal income taxes have been paid. After resolving a few bills, the estate’s value comes to $2.3 million.

“No other assets have come into the hands of [Ledward],” court documents stated. “All assets have been inventoried, and no additional assets have been received, although [Ledward] continues to receive and deposit residual payments into the estate and/or corporate account.”

After his death, it was revealed that Boseman had been diagnosed with stage 3 of the disease in 2016, sending shock waves across the globe as friends, fans, and fellow Hollywood stars learned the ‘Marshall’ star had been working nonstop while fighting the deadly disease.

News of his death reignited the discussion around why estate planning is imperative, even for individuals who are not wealthy. Ledward and Boseman began dating before the star’s diagnosis and secretly tied the knot before his death at the suggestion of Academy Award-winning actor Denzel Washington, per reports.

The couple had been together since 2016, but it wasn’t until the actor’s passing that the family confirmed to the public that he was married.  Boseman’s family said in a statement that he “died in his home, with his wife and family by his side”.

Aside from his widow and parents, Boseman left behind brothers Kevin Boseman and Derrick Boseman.
