Manchester United has confirmed in a statement that Cristiano Ronaldo has left the English club with immediate effect.

According to the Premier League club, the decision was a mutual decision between the club and the Footballer.

“The club thanks him [Cristiano Ronaldo] for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.”

The decision follows a controversial interview in which the 37-year-old criticised the club and said he had “no respect” for manager Erik ten Hag.

The mutual decision between the club and Ronaldo means that the club will not pay a penny of the £16million remaining in Ronaldo’s contract.

Meanwhile, the statement said that “everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik Ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

In his interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo mentioned that he had no respect for Manchester United’s Manager, Erik Ten Hag, because the Manager does not respect him.

He revealed that since he made his return to the club, some people within the club have been working to get him out.

“Some people, they don’t want me here – not only the coach but [some] other two or three guys. Not only this year, but last year too. Honestly, I shouldn’t say that. But listen, I don’t care. People should listen to the truth. Yes, I feel betrayed.”

Ronaldo also criticised the team saying that nothing at Manchester United had changed since veteran coach, Sir Alex Ferguson left.

“Since Sir Alex Ferguson left I saw no evolution in the club, the progress was zero. Nothing changed. Not only the pool, the jacuzzi, even the gym. They stopped in time, which surprised me a lot.”

Manchester United officials were reportedly baffled by Ronaldo’s comments about the Carrington training ground, which has been refurbished in some areas.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo mentioned that, he was openly criticising the club because, the fans ought to know the truth behind the club’s underperformance.

“I think the fans should know the truth. I want the best for the club. But you have some things inside [the club] that don’t help it reach the top level as City, Liverpool and even now Arsenal.”

If Ronaldo was to remain at Manchester United, the Portuguese Superstar would have earned an accumulated income of £16million by June, 2023 as he earns £500,000 a week.

The scandalous interview notwithstanding, Sporting CP, Ronaldo’s first club, has already expressed interest in re-signing the five time ballon d’or winner.

However, Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes was reported to have met with Bayern Munich some time last week to discuss the possibility of Ronaldo joining the German champions.
