Perseus Mining Ghana Limited Company (PMGLC), a subsidiary of the global mining giant Perseus Mining Limited, has announced a series of key leadership appointments at its Edikan operations, effective July 1, 2025.

The changes, announced in a press release aimed at strengthening operational excellence, deepening local leadership, and reinforcing the company’s long-term commitment to Ghana’s mining sector.

These strategic appointments come as Perseus Mining doubles down on its mission to develop internal talent and ensure continuity in leadership across its operations, with a 100% Ghanaian management and workforce at the Edikan Gold Mine.

“Daniel Egya-Mensah, currently General Manager of the Edikan Gold Mine, will assume the newly created role of Chief Executive Officer of PMGLC, having joined the company in 2023.

“In this new position, he will provide strategic guidance to the operational leadership team and oversee stakeholder engagement.”

In his new role, Egya-Mensah will oversee strategic direction, stakeholder engagement, and executive coordination across the Edikan operations.

Stepping into Egya-Mensah’s previous role is Alexander Kofi Oduro, who has been promoted from his position as Mining and Technical Services Manager to General Manager of Edikan Gold Mine.

With more than 17 years of mining experience both locally and internationally, Oduro has been a key driver behind Edikan’s strategic mine planning and operational optimisation.

“Alexander’s innovative and results-driven leadership has consistently raised the bar on efficiency and productivity.”

He is expected to lead Edikan into its next phase of sustainable growth, with a focus on responsible mining practices and operational innovation.

Further reinforcing the company’s talent pipeline, Amatus Niminye, formerly the Mine Operations Superintendent, will succeed Oduro as Mining and Technical Services Manager.

Niminye is well-regarded in the industry for spearheading greenfield projects and introducing advanced blasting techniques that have enhanced both performance and sustainability metrics.

“Amatus’s track record of technical innovation and his unwavering commitment to operational excellence make him ideally suited for this pivotal role.”

The appointments mark a significant moment in Perseus Mining’s long-term strategy to cultivate Ghanaian talent and build local capacity.

“The Perseus group has always believed that the foundation of our long-term success lies in the strength of our people.

“These key appointments in Ghana are a clear reflection of our deep commitment to developing talent from within and building a culture of leadership and excellence throughout our operations.”

Jeff Quartermaine, CEO and Managing Director of Perseus Mining Limited

Perseus Mining has maintained a strong reputation for empowering local communities and building a sustainable workforce.

The company’s commitment to having a fully Ghanaian leadership team at Edikan reflects its dedication to long-term national development and inclusive growth in Ghana’s mining industry.

“I am proud to see this next generation of Ghanaian leaders step into strategic roles that will help shape the future of our business in Ghana.

“Their expertise and dedication will be critical as we embark on the next chapter of our growth.”

The new appointments come at a time when the mining industry in Ghana is becoming increasingly focused on value addition, localisation, and environmental stewardship.

With operational efficiency and cost management being key drivers of mining profitability, leadership with local knowledge and global experience is crucial.

The Edikan Gold Mine remains a flagship asset within Perseus Mining’s portfolio, contributing significantly to the group’s annual production and providing a platform for future growth across West Africa.

The leadership changes at Edikan highlight a growing trend among multinational companies operating in Ghana to localise senior roles and harness indigenous talent.

With Egya-Mensah, Oduro, and Niminye at the helm, Perseus Mining Ghana Limited is poised to deepen its impact in the mining sector while aligning with national goals for capacity building, economic empowerment, and sustainable development.
