Portuguese football star, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make records on and off the football pitch as he has made history by becoming the first person in the world to reach 300 million followers on Instagram.
It can be recalled that last year Ronaldo was the first person to reach the 200 million mark on the photo-blogging website. Currently, he is only trailing the 397 million followers of the official account of Instagram itself.

Meanwhile, the football star hasn’t reacted to this development neither has Instagram congratulated him yet for making it into their history books once more.
That notwithstanding, Ronaldo with 300 million followers on Instagram is way ahead of the second-placed, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. The wrestler-turned-actor has 246 million followers on the platform. Nonetheless, Dwayne is closely followed by socialite and influencer Kylie Jenner who has 241 million followers.

As per a report from last year, Ronaldo is the top-earning celebrity from Instagram. From March 2019 to March 2020, Ronaldo earned the most money on Instagram from sponsored posts. He bagged 50.3 million dollars which is way more than the salary he earns (33 million dollars) at his football club Juventus. He’s earning more than the internet celebrity, Kylie Jenner.
It is worth noting that, Ronaldo is also the top-earning athlete currently, earning a total of 120 million dollars. He has more than 500 million followers cumulatively on social media platforms Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
The Portuguese attacker has been used to breaking records on the field and his achievements inside the stadiums all across the world often have a positive impact off the field too.
That notwithstanding, Ronaldo, has been setting records ever since he started playing professional football. Be it at Manchester United, Real Madrid, or his current club Juventus, Ronaldo has broken some of the most prestigious records at every club he has played for.
Even with the Portugal national team, Ronaldo’s achievements are unparalleled. The 36-year-old is the nation’s top-scoring player with 106 goals to his name. He scored a brace at the 2020 European Championships against Hungary, marking his fifth appearance at the quadrennial event, which is also an all-time record.
His four-year contract with Juventus runs till the summer of 2022, earning him 64 million dollars per year. Other than his salary and earnings from social media, Ronaldo also has a lucrative deal with Nike and many other top brands. He also owns his own sporting apparel brand CR7.

Well, all these go to show the clout that Ronaldo wields especially when it comes to influencing brands either positively or negatively.
It therefore comes as no surprise that recently, the market value of Coca-Cola went from 242 billion dollars to 238 billion dollars, a drop of $4bn according to reports.
This follows the 36-year-old footballer shifting two bottles of Coca-Cola away from him during a press conference in Budapest on Monday.
Ronaldo followed it by holding up a bottle of water before declaring in Portuguese: “Agua!”, appearing to encourage people to choose that instead and this triggered the company’s share price to drop.
