Nigerian music star, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has attributed his resilience in the face of life’s challenges to the lessons instilled in him by his father about faith and strong belief in God.
The Afrobeat singer reflected on his upbringing in a devout Christian household and the influence his father’s religious teachings have had on his outlook.
“My dad is very successful, but he’s an elder in the church. I grew up as a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. I attended a Christian college.”

Davido shared and described the foundation of faith built during his formative years.
He noted how his father’s counsel, particularly about accepting life’s adversities without questioning God, has been a source of strength during tough times.
“I overcame a lot of challenges because of my dad. Initially, I did not understand, but now I’ve come to the realization. I was angry. Sometimes, I was like, ‘Why do bad things happen to good people?’ And my dad told me that you can’t question God.”

The ‘Timeless’ singer also opened up about the tragic loss of his son, Ifeanyi, and how his faith journey shifted after the devastating event.
“I was like, ‘What do you mean you can’t question God?’ And then a year later, we had twins, the biggest album of my career came, and my first Grammy nominations came. Then it started to make sense.”
