Nigerian music superstar, Davido, has shared insights into his marriage with his wife, Chioma Adeleke, revealing that they lived together for 8 long years before they officially tied the knot.
During an interview, the singer disclosed that he and Chioma had been living together for almost a decade before getting married.
“My partner and I have been living together for a long time prior to getting married. I met her in my third year in college, and I was lucky enough for us to move in together early—about eight years before we got married.”

Despite their deep-rooted bond, Davido admitted that marriage comes with its own set of challenges. “The transition was smooth, but it’s different; getting married is no joke,” he said.
The artist noted that Chioma’s understanding and support of his career over the years made life easier, stating that he was mostly on the road for long durations.
“Throughout the time we were living together, I was touring and really on the road. She always understood what I did for work, and she knows I’m at my happiest when I work. She knows I love music as she loves being in the kitchen.”

Davido also opened up about his extravagant wedding to Chioma Adeleke, describing it as a global celebration that felt like a holiday in Nigeria. “This is a bound union now; we’ve had a whole wedding, and we’ve invited all these people from across the world to celebrate us,” he recounted.
He likened the wedding festivities to the fictional, vibrant, extravagant African country ‘Zamunda.’
“The wedding was in Nigeria; it was on some crazy Zamunda shit, mad crazy. It was like a holiday in Nigeria and it was one of the best days of my life. Everybody flew in from all over the world to celebrate us.”

Reflecting on the significance of the occasion, Davido emphasised the importance of protecting their union, acknowledging the vulnerabilities that come with public life. “I feel like a lot of popular people are very vulnerable, knowing that we have to be careful,” he said.
The pair officially tied the knot in a large, festival-like traditional affair in Lagos State back in June 2024. The gala was the most anticipated celebrity wedding of the year, given that the wedding was initially set for 2020.
Kwaku Appiah Praises Davido
Controversial Ghanaian political commentator, Frank Kwaku Appiah, popularly known as Appiah Stadium, praised Nigerian music superstar Davido following their recent encounter in Ghana.
In a video shared by Appiah Stadium on TikTok, the staunch National Democratic Congress (NDC) supporter beamed with excitement as he claimed that Davido wore a $1 million wedding ring from his lavish 2024 marriage ceremony with his wife, Chioma Avril Rowland, when he hugged him in front of many people in public.
Appiah Stadium, who proclaimed himself as the eldest child of President John Dramani Mahama, noted that his interaction with Davido was an indication that God had indeed blessed him in abundance.
The political commentator expressed his gratitude to the ‘Jowo’ singer for conversing with him despite him being a bona fide international music superstar. He added that Davido made him proud by wearing the $1 million gold wedding ring to meet and hug him.
Appiah Stadium’s remarks come after he dropped down from a Taxi and walked over to Davido’s car to meet him for the first time at a parking lot after he landed at the Kotoka International Airport in Accra on Saturday, March 22, 2025.
During their encounter, Appiah Stadium was initially restricted by the afrobeat star’s security personnel, who informed the former that the musician was making a call and could not be disturbed at that moment.
The political commentator failed to back down and continuously expressed his intention to greet Davido as he was a big fan.
After several tries and looking through the tinted glass of the front passenger’s seat of Davido’s car, the Nigerian musician eventually rolled down the window and told security to allow Appiah Stadium to approach him.
This brought joy to the political commentator as he shook hands and conversed in broken English with the ‘Fall’ hitmaker.
The singer hugged Appiah Stadium, and towards the end of their interaction, the Ghanaian political commentator showered the Nigerian singer with praises.
