Singer-songwriter Fameye has asserted that he has received a Ghana Music Award, stating that it is worth more than a Grammy or BET award.

Fameye, born Peter Famiyeh Bozah, remembered the days when he had no hit songs and was unknown to the public; the days when he valued Grammy and BET awards above all others, as evidenced in his song “Destiny”.

Disclosing that he had reviewed his priorities, the music star noted how inspired he was, watching Highlife and Hiplife greats like Kwaadee, Ofori Amponsah, and Kwaw Kese, receive Ghana Music Awards back in the day.

“These moments were a blessing to the vision,” Fameye said.

“This is where I was born and raised. This is where I work, and this is where when I perform in my native language, my fans are excited. The support that has made me who I am came from this country. And it is when you have massive support from your home country that you can rise to those desired heights,” he stated.

He stated that it would even make a great impression when officials of the Recording Academy, organizers of the Grammys, come to Ghana and notice artists like “Peter, Kwesi Arthur,” and others have prestigious national awards and are widely loved.

Fameye clarified that he is not against winning a Grammy or BET.

“If I get a Grammy or BET, I’d be glad but from now onwards, I’m saying Ghana Music Awards is heavier than the Grammys. So I will continuously win Ghana Music Awards and move on to a Grammy and BET, my fans will be delighted,” he admitted.

“Ultimately, these awards, encourage and reach your fans to defend your honor when someone belittles your talent or effort. It makes them proud of us, and proud to associate with us,” he added.

He emphasized that whether he wins a Grammy in his lifetime or not, he is content.

“What’s more important is to win Ghana Music Awards,” he noted.

Fameye was judged the Songwriter of the Year (2022) at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards for his megahit song “Praise”.

With a corresponding album, Songs of Peter, Fameye has become increasingly composed in lyrics and Pan-African in views.

Highlife star Fameye affirmed his love for women.

According to Fameye, when he makes a woman too happy, they eventually leave.

“I love women deeply! I’ve never broken up with a woman before. They leave, I never initiate it,” he said.

He noted he had suffered broken hearts 100 percent even though he makes women comfortable.

The award-winning songwriter said due to his broken heart he cut his dreadlocks and dyed his hair.

“I had this desire for any woman I laid eyes on,” he further added.

He recalled giving out some money to a stranger, stating that this strange behavior started in Winneba when he first revealed his emotional wound to an old classmate called Winnifred.

He noted that this happened before his breakthrough song “Nothing I Get” (2019).

Giving more details, he revealed he had gone to perform in Bogoso for a company that paid him GHC3000, but he found himself performing to his girlfriend and secret lover who were seated among the audience.

“I found myself entertaining the woman who cheated on me and her lover over kebab and beer,” Fameye, alias Peter, divulged.

He explained he wanted to prove he was alright, meanwhile, he was “sick and hurting” within.

Due to this experience, Fameye said he is concerned when he sees someone brag about the unchangeable love of their partner.

“Even people who’ve been married for 20 years part ways. So be careful,” he said.
