Ghanaian highlife and hiplife star Kofi Kinaata has announced plans to perform in Canada in March 2027 as part of celebrations marking Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary. The artiste shared the news on his official X account, urging fans to begin planning immediately.
“Pls start planning now, Mooove your annual leave on your calendars, Take time off those shifts and get ready to meet me in CANADA 🇨🇦 – March 2027 as we celebrate Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary! 🇬🇭🎉🥳 #TeamMooove,” Kinaata wrote alongside a promotional poster.
The poster, produced in collaboration with WillBe Events, features the artiste in a white outfit and sunglasses against a red background with the CN Tower silhouette and Canadian flag elements. It carries the bold title “KINAATA in CANADA” and a progress bar indicating 75 per cent readiness for the event.
Ghana gained independence from British colonial rule on 6 March 1957, making March 2027 the official 70th anniversary year. The celebration is expected to feature various cultural and community activities among the Ghanaian diaspora in Canada, and Kinaata’s concert is positioned as a major highlight of those observances.
About Kofi Kinaata
Known popularly as the Fante Rap God, Kinaata has built a strong following through his witty, proverb-laden songwriting and consistent live performances. Born Martin King Arthur in Effiakuma, Takoradi, he has released several hit singles and an EP, and serves as a National Goodwill Ambassador for the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and UN Migration in Ghana.
His music often addresses social issues while remaining firmly rooted in Ghanaian highlife and hiplife traditions.
The Canada announcement comes as the artiste continues to expand his international footprint. He has previously performed for diaspora audiences in the United States and Europe, and his return to North American stages is expected to draw significant interest from Ghanaian communities in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and other cities with large Ghanaian populations.
Exact details including the specific city, venue, date and ticket information have not yet been released. Organisers are expected to provide further updates in the coming months as planning advances. The early announcement, more than four months ahead of the event window, allows fans sufficient time to arrange travel, leave from work and other logistics.
Clarion Call for Fans
Kinaata’s call for fans to “Mooove” their annual leave reflects the strong loyalty of his #TeamMooove supporters, who have consistently turned out for his shows both at home and abroad.
The artiste’s ability to blend entertainment with national pride has made him a popular choice for milestone celebrations.
Canada hosts one of the more established Ghanaian diaspora communities in North America. Independence anniversary events in previous years have included flag-raising ceremonies, cultural programmes and community gatherings organised by the Ghana High Commission and local associations. Kinaata’s concert is likely to add a high-profile musical dimension to the 70th anniversary programme.
As more information becomes available, tickets are expected to go on sale through official channels linked to WillBe Events. Fans are advised to monitor Kinaata’s verified social media accounts and the promoter’s platforms for updates on venue, supporting acts and pricing.
The March 2027 date places the show squarely within the period when Ghanaians worldwide will be reflecting on seven decades of independence. For many in the diaspora, attending a live performance by a leading Ghanaian artiste during that commemorative month will carry both entertainment and cultural significance.
Kofi Kinaata’s announcement has already generated excitement among his followers. With the early notice, #TeamMooove members in Canada and those planning to travel have ample time to prepare for what promises to be a memorable celebration of Ghanaian music and national pride.
