Celebrated Ghanaian Gospel musician, Nana Yaw Boakye, better known by his stage name MOG Music, has shared the harrowing experience of losing his seven-month-old child.
The ‘Mala’ hitmaker detailed the sorrowful circumstances surrounding the loss and how he and his wife, amidst their profound grief, sought solace in the faith they had in God.
According to the multiple award-winning artiste, he received a troubling phone call on one Monday morning from his wife, who was at her workplace.
“She called me around 11 a.m. and said, ‘Baby, I have not felt the baby move all day’,” he recounted.
Worried, he promptly reached out to his mother for guidance. The couple hurried to the hospital, where a nurse performed a scan to assess the baby’s heartbeat.
However, the nurse’s reluctance to provide immediate information left them in a state of anxiety, as she instructed them to wait for the doctor.
“Around this time, my wife couldn’t hold her tears; she was gone, and I was encouraging her. I took her to the car, sat her down, put my hands on her stomach, and started calling the name of Jesus, hoping that our ears would hear good news.”

The crooner further noted that when the doctor finally arrived and conducted another scan, he delivered the heartbreaking news, saying “I don’t know what happened, but the baby is not alive.”
He asserted that at that moment, he and his wife were devastated.

MOG went on to state that due to the hospital’s lack of a morgue, they were compelled to transport their deceased child to a certified morgue to obtain a death certificate and make burial arrangements.
Despite their overwhelming sorrow, the couple decided to attend church the following Sunday to express their gratitude to God.
However, MOG Music revealed that when he began his praise ministration that Sunday, his wife broke down in tears.
Their pastor, Sam Korankye Ankrah, took to the pulpit to announce the unfortunate incident. He then delivered a prophecy, assuring the couple that they would give birth to a boy named Joshua within a year.
Shockingly, exactly one year after the loss, on August 11, they welcomed their son, Joshua.
The renowned singer shared that they have since been blessed with two more children and intend to continue growing their family, embracing the biblical command to multiply.
Musician Details How He and His Partner Handled Child Loss

MOG Music detailed the sequence of events that followed the news of his baby’s death.
The two-time winner of the Male Vocalist of the Year at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards stated that, contrary to the perception that his baby was growing healthily in his wife’s womb, a visit to the hospital after his wife’s frustration over not feeling the usual kicks revealed that the baby had died.
“We will have to induce your wife and let the baby come, and probably if you want to do an autopsy, we can do it and find out what happened to the baby. It is quite unfortunate; I am very sorry. The nurse will take you to the ward and prepare you for induction,” MOG Music quotes the doctor as having said.
According to the songwriter, when he sought clarification on what possibly led to the demise of his baby, the doctor replied, “Young man, these things happen. You are not the first, nor will you be the last. I am sorry.”
Narrating how his expectant wife received the news of their child’s demise, the ‘Be Lifted’ hitmaker revealed that she was simply inconsolable.
“My wife was off. I don’t know the words to describe it, but I have never seen her in that state. The kind of feeling that came with the message and the impact of what happened to us, I would not even wish that for my enemy.
“We’ve been through this process for seven months. Every morning I hold her stomach, and we pray. I get home, hold her stomach, and play with the baby, the baby kicks here and there, and now, just at the crossroads, we lost everything. It wasn’t easy.”
