As the event seeks to celebrate African nominees, a handful have been shortlisted for the February 4 main event.
The second edition of the African Grammy Nominees brunch was hosted by Ghanaian broadcaster Berla Mundi.
This year’s African Grammy Nominee Brunch organized under the auspices of Grow Unite and Build (GUBA) in partnership with Rollingstone is tipped to be worth attending as it has top-rated and award-winning African achievers gracing the occasion.
The likes of Grammy Award Winner and South African Singer Zakes Bantwini, Entrepreneur and founder of Emy Africa Kojo Soboh, Grammy-nominated music producer Musa Keys, and other great African personalities would make the night full of applause for the African creative exports.
The brunch is being held a day before the grand 66th Grammy Awards which will be remarkable as an award for a new African category, Best African Performance has been created to honor African talents and ensure fairness and and a level playing field for Africans in the coveted music awards.
In a video, Gyakie was seen locked in a pose with Burna Boy’s mum, Bose Ogulu, who is known to be the force behind his son’s meteoric rise.
Gyakie was also seen interacting with Nigerian entertainer Teni as they looked forward to the showdown at the Grammy Awards.
Gyakie Set To Drop Album
Ghanaian afrobeat musician, Jackline Acheampong, better known by her stage name Gyakie, announced the release of her debut album.
Famous for hit songs including ‘Forever’, ‘Joy & Happiness’, ‘Whine’, ‘Vacation’, and ‘The Journey’, among others, fans are excited about the surprises she has in store as she prepares to release her debut album.
Gyakie has yet to set a date for the album release. She released two successful Extended Plays (EPs) and wrote, “How I Plan to sneak in the album.”
Gyakie hasn’t looked back or slowed down despite releasing hit after hit, topping music charts, taking home several accolades, and playing sold-out gigs.
One of the tracks to gain recognition in the Nigerian music industry was the smash song, ‘Forever’, from her 2020 ‘Seed’ EP.
Her breakthrough single, which peaked at number one on the charts in Ghana, Kenya, and Nigeria, was her claim to fame.
In March 2021, Gyakie and Nigerian artiste, Omah Lay, collaborated to release a remix of ‘Forever’.
She has won multiple awards, including African Artiste of the Year at the Sound City MVCP Awards 2020, and Best Female MVCP Viewer’s Choice Awards 2021.
Gyakie, who has backed over 100 hit songs and collaborated with nearly all of the best Ghanaian musicians, keeps demonstrating that talent, hard work, and superb management, are the cornerstones of her success with each new milestone.
The daughter of one of the celebrated highlife musicians, Ernest Nana Acheampong, Gyakie, is regarded as the next big female act to come out of Ghana with her talent making way for her into the global music market.
