Lawyer Ebenezer Apiagyei, a US-based prosecutor and Supreme Court attorney has stated that contrary to reports that Mona Faiz Montrage might be sentenced to 95 years for her involvement in a romance scam, she might serve a maximum of 10 years if she corporates with the federal government.
According to the prosecutor, corporating with the federal government and the US attorney general will mean giving out names of the big fishes of the enterprise, of which she is part.
Lawyer Apiagyei added that, when the Ghanaian social media influencer, Mona Faiz Montrage, decides to do that, some of her charges might be withdrawn.
“As a prosecutor, I can tell you this might not go to trial because they have enough evidence against her… The reason they have this individual who is popular and famous, I can tell you how it’s going to end. They are going to give all the evidence they have on her to her lawyer.
“Her lawyer is going to review what we call discovery. Then they develop a strategy, the lawyer will tell her to admit some. And then they will work with the Attorney General’s Office. So what usually happens is that they try to mitigate the sentencing…The sentences of all the counts accumulate to a maximum of 95 years. I’m yet to find out somebody serving 95 years in this kind of international wire fraud”.

The lawyer told Frank Ntiamoah Williams in an interview:
“Usually they plead guilty, and they use them as a leverage. So they are going to use this individual as leverage, to get all those involved. If she starts talking and corporating with the federal government, then it might reduce the sentencing.
“They can withdraw some of the charges and definitely will ask for 8-10 years… If she corporates, then she might probably name who those big guns are in this enterprise. So sometimes, they use her as the main witness to go after the big fish”.

FBI knows you and will come after you

Lawyer Ebenezer Apiagyei, a US-based prosecutor and Supreme Court attorney stated that members involved in the romance scam saga will be hunted down by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
According to him, culprits should not think that they have been left under the radar, but rather, they will be arrested at the right time when all investigations have finally been concluded.
He explained:
“Absolutely, you cannot defraud United State citizens, and go scot-free. The fact that they have not come to your time, doesn’t mean nobody is investigating you. There were a group of individual enterprise, 8 of them were indicted in 2020, they investigated them from 2014 to 2018. You realize that they were investigating this individual from 2013 to 2019. As a prosecutor, I can tell you, this might not go to trial, because they have enough evidence against them”.

Also, Controversial Counsellor George Lutterodt said a prayer warrior like Hajia4Reall needs the prayers of the people of Ghana in her trying times.
He believes that a very prayerful young lady like Hajia4Reall should not be deserted by her prayer-loving colleagues when facing challenging times.
Counsellor Lutterodt hinted that he would be organizing a prayer vigil for the young lady who is standing trial in the United States of America for her involvement in a $2 million romance scam.
He said in an interview:
“When Hajia4Reall was in town, she always said after her interviews that the youth and especially young ladies should work hard and also be prayerful. This is an indication that she’s a prayer warrior. The sanity of Hajia4Reall is very important to us and the people she works with are also very important to us.
“Hajia4Real needs our prayers badly. I want to organize a vigil prayer night for her. There are things we see as physical but prayer can work to ensure that things happen. I am fixing the date for this. It’s God who called me and asked me to pray for her. I am not stopping people from judging Hajia4Reall because I’m dealing with the spiritual. We need a spiritual intervention for her soul”.
