I Didn’t Type The Apology Letter To Akufo-Addo – GH Mouthpiece

GH Mouthpiece and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo

Ghanaian media personality, Adwoa Asuama, popularly known as GH Mouthpiece, has shared details of how she was asked to render an apology to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for criticizing the government in a video she recorded, a development which caused her to resign from her job.

It can be recalled that in 2022, the popular radio presenter cum blogger, narrated how an ‘order from above’, put her boss under pressure to take her off the air for throwing her weight behind the #Fixthecountry protest.

GH Mouthpiece, who worked with Kingdom FM then, disclosed a private conversation between the president and her boss at 1 am over her critique causing her to be abruptly taken from the air. However, the video in question was recorded in her house and not at the office.

“He pulled out a video of me addressing some concerns about the ‘fix the country’ campaign. In the video, I poked Nana Addo for promising us a better life whereas we are currently experiencing worse situations. Before he came to power, he said Ghana was sitting on a gold mine but the citizens were hungry. Now you are in power and we are still living in the same Ghana, we haven’t relocated into the bush but things have worsened. That’s what I said in the video, but I recorded it in my house,” she said.

“I admitted to recording this video when my managers confronted me. My boss asked why I disrespectfully spoke about the president in that manner… He showed me a chat between him and the president at 1 am. In the conversation, the president was complaining about the video I did. After the confrontation, I asked if I could go back on air and my boss said no,” she noted.

However, revisiting the experience, the outspoken blogger asserted that the highlight of all that happened was when she was made to sign two already typed and printed copies of an apology letter.

“Quickly, I walked to my office, picked up my bag and laptop, and the show was left ajar. Days later, I was called from home to write an apology letter to the president. An already printed apology letter was handed to me to read and sign. So, I resigned. My soul, mind, and spirit had left the job,” she stated.

GH Mouthpiece, who had already worked with several media firms before this one, described what ensued at Kingdom FM as the height of suppression of press freedom and human rights.

Recalling How Baby Daddy Was Met

GH Mouthpiece recalled how she first encountered her baby daddy and how her appetite for shisha caused her to create a mess in his car.

According to her, she has been together with him for twelve years and has two children with him. The relationship which is yet to lead to marriage started the first day she met the man.

“I met him at Hatso on a Sunday. I was by the roadside waiting for the car to somewhere around Madina. I could see him driving back and forth in his black Benz. He eventually stopped in front of me and said, ‘You’re the one I’m looking for’. I was scared because I knew I was troublesome, so I thought he was one of my victims who was after me to probably harm me for causing harm to them,” she recalled.

“So I asked what my offense was, and he said he had closed from church, and something told him to just drive around, and that he would meet someone. I don’t know if that was a pick-up line or not. He asked where I was headed, and I said Botwe. Then he said he was also heading there,” she further continued.

The media personality revealed that she agreed to attend the Odwira festival with the man on the same day, as she had no prior commitments.

During the festival as part of the commemoration, she indulged in smoking shisha to the extent that she lost control and vomited in his car during their return journey.

Meanwhile, despite being in a relationship with the man with whom she has two children and who is more than ready to put a ring on her finger, GH Mouthpiece has said that she is not ready for marriage because she is afraid of the institution.

Expressing her satisfaction with the current state of the relationship, “We’re currently savoring the beauty of our relationship, and I see many others who share in the joy. I hope to cherish him forever,” she remarked.
