A video trending on social media shows an altercation between Nollywood actors, Jim Iyke and Uche Maduagwu

Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke

Nollywood star, Jim Iyke, has revealed that his face-off with fellow actor, Uche Maduagwu, was orchestrated.

In an interview, Jim Iyke disclosed that he strategically planned the brawl just to promote his movie, ‘Bad Comments’, which was at the time due to be released few days after the staged “attack”.

“It was orchestrated, I can say it now. I’ve given you two scripts. Do I look like the kind of person that just before the introduction of one of the most important works in my entire career would go and jeopardize it with that? No, I’m too strategic”.

Revealing the reason for pulling such a stunt, Jim Iyke said: “I wanted to tell them to paint the picture of what it was like in the social media ecosystem. I can orchestrate anything and you will perceive it. It’s about perception”.

Jim Iyke also revealed that he paid Maduagwu and they had an agreement to pull the stunt. Disclosing how the whole deal transpired, Jim Iyke said: “I called the man, we had an understanding, I paid very well for it, rolled out the script, called Moses in, we shot it and we’re about to release the ending of it. I’m not stupid. I will never make that kind of mistake”.

Noting the effect of the stunt on his movie, Jim Iyke disclosed that he had already spent over 20 million Naira in promoting the film but, people were still viewing it with a certain degree of cynicism. According to him, the moment there was a scandal, the “movie immediately caught fire”.

After Jim Iyke’s revelation, Uche Maduagwu confirmed that Jim Iyke indeed paid him 4.8million Naira to pull the stunt on the public to promote his movie, ‘Bad Comments’.

It can be recalled that Jim Iyke in August 2021 beat Maduagwu for questioning his source of wealth. The video went viral at that time.

Revealing the amount he was paid, Maduagwu took to his Instagram page to brag, as he called himself the “biggest brand influencer”.

“He paid me N3.6 million to promote Bad Comments movie and added N1.2 million after it went viral. I’m not just the most talked-about movie star in Africa. I’m the biggest brand influencer”.

The actor further noted that Jim Iyke is like a big brother to him. Maduagwu also claimed that the reason Jim Iyke chose him to orchestrate the stunt was because Jim Iyke saw potentials in him.

Speaking on the movie, Maduagwu stated that “Today, Bad Comments movie became the biggest cinema film in 2021”. According to Maduagwu, the main reason for the success of the movie was because Jim Iyke saw his brand influencing power and decided to work with him. He also commended the movie director and continued to boast as he said: “I influence brands to success because I am the most talked-about movie star in Africa”.
