Afia Schwarzenegger has revealed how she wanted to help the Ghana police service with bulletproof jackets but she was ignored completely.

Afia Schwarzenegger, a Ghanaian comedienne

Ghanaian controversial comedienne, Afia Schwarzenegger has revealed how she wanted to help the Ghana Police Service with bulletproof jackets but she was ignored completely.

Afia Schwarzenegger took to her Instagram page to react to the death of the Police officer who was shot by some unknown gunmen through a bullion van attack.

In a video on Instagram shared by Afia, she disclosed that she had completed a business transaction with some of her partners Abroad and they were giving out bulletproof jackets as such, she ordered some of the high-end bulletproof vests to be delivered to her through DHL. She disclosed that she sent some sample bulletproof vests to the police headquarters to test out the quality of the vest before she ships about 20,000 pieces of bulletproof jackets.

Afia buys bulletproof out of love for the police

According to her, she did it out of love and the respect she has for her late father. However, the police force ignored her completely because they assumed that;she was giving the vest out due to her political affiliation. She also noted that if care is not taken, more police officers will go down just because;of how corrupt the system is.

“Once again we have lost a police officer to a gun shoot. In honor of my late father, Chief Inspector Kwakye, who was a police officer, I have;a special love for the police force, they are very important to me. I had completed a deal with my business partners who were distributing; bulletproof and I thought it wise to get some for the policemen.  I singlehandedly solicited some samples of some;bulletproof to the police service and I sent the bulletproof to the police;to test the durability of the bulletproof so that I can ship about 20,000 bulletproof but they completely ignored me.

“They thought bringing it was to have a political influence on them;because they thought I was a member of the NDC party. So, they thought when I do it, I will bring some sort of glory to the NDC party. Well, here we are and more policemen are going to die because there is so much corruption in the system”.

Comments from netizens

That notwithstanding, several netizens who viewed Afia’s video reacted to it. Some who were in agreement with her mentioned that indeed more police officers are going to die. According to them, the service doesn’t even care about the death of the young policeman.

Meanwhile, some backlashed the Police service for assigning such a huge task to a policeman who is new to the service. According to them, the policeman who was shot had only eight months of experience in the service therefore he shouldn’t have been assigned to such a role.

Also, while some commended Afia for at least trying her best to help the Police service, others questioned if it is only the bulletproof vest they needed. They explained that the policeman was shot in the head therefore the vest would have been “useless”. According to them the best protective gear in this situation would be a bulletproof helmet.  Some reactions to Afia’s post read:
