Ghanaian movie actress and producer, Yvonne Nelson, has showered praises on colleague actress Akuapem Poloo for her professionalism.
Speaking in an interview, Yvonne Nelson said that despite perceptions about her character and attitude, Haniya Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, showed a lot of maturity on set during the shoot of her latest film titled ‘Kotoka’.
According to her, Akuapem Poloo comported herself very well even though her first scene in the movie was shot at 10 pm after she reported at 6 am.
She told the interviewer;
“Akuapem Poloo came on set early and we shot her first scene around 10 pm.
“She was nice and she did not complain even though I kept apologizing. She was nice”.

I love working with the ‘old gees’ than the up-and-coming actors
Yvonne Nelson disclosed that she loves working with veteran actors more than the up-and-coming ones.
Yvonne Nelson, who has been producing movies for a while and also working with several actors has come to the realization that working with the likes of John Dumelo, James Gardener, Majid Michel, and Prince David Osei is better as compared to the future actors.
In an interview, she explained that veteran actors have more experience in the movie industry and also have a deep understanding of how everything works hence, they make working or production easier.
She said;
“Old gees already have an understanding of how the job is done. They know the job so it’s easier working with them. It’s easier working with my colleagues Majid and John is easier”.

She added that the up-and-coming actors have talent but the tardiness and the lack of seriousness they exhibit on set are unacceptable. This, she said, includes punctuality.
She stressed saying and added;
“Ghanaians were complaining they were tired of seeing the old faces in movies thus we should explore the talents of the upcoming actors but these new actors lack discipline and seriousness. Funny enough, they haven’t gained popularity but their behavior on set is very bad.
“We go on set and at the location, we have been granted 5 hours to use the place. You give them time to report and you see them reporting at a different time. For example, you tell them to be at set at 8 am and they end up reporting at 2 pm”.

The actress concluded that as a result of such behaviors, she has learned her lessons and has decided to reconsider certain things in her next project.
She also stated that the young actors lacked an understanding of how the industry operates.
She said;
“After the movie is shot, it comes down to promoting it but will they have the time for it? Do they even know what this whole promotion thing is all about? Can they even do interviews? So many things are involved that they have little or no knowledge of”.
