Popular Ghanaian Gospel singer, Joyce Blessing, has opened up about how her working relationship with Kwasi Ernest started.
In a recent interview, Joyce Blessing disclosed that she first texted Media Excel’s CEO, Kwasi Ernest, through Facebook.
Before texting the Media Excel boss, she recalled having texted many producers who did not respond. However, Kwasi Ernest finally replied to her message.
“I texted Media Excel Productions on Facebook. I didn’t know anyone when I came to Accra. I started following most producers, so from time to time, I kept checking if any of them had responded to my messages.
“Along the line, God intervened for Ernest to respond to my message. At that time, I had already shot my first video, so I managed to send him the song, and he said I was good.”

According to her, Kwasi Ernest was on production break, so he was unable to assure her he would get help for her.
“Then he said he has gone on break for production, but let’s see how we would go about it. I kept texting him until one day, he asked me to come to his office. When I got there, he took his time to watch my music video.
“He told me that I was good and if I should get the chance, I would hit. Since he was on break for production, he couldn’t give me 100% assurance that he could help me, but we should wait and see how things will go.”

Upon noticing how serious she was, the ‘Repent’ singer averred that Ernest extended a helping hand.
“I was able to gather some money, so I asked him to go pay Metro TV for me for promotions, and that’s when he realised how serious I was. He intended to help me fully, but he told me to help myself while he also supported me along the way.”

Joyce Blessing further revealed how they started with a photoshoot, did a couple of things, and eventually began live worship.

She mentioned that no one knew her then, adding that the live worship helped her a lot and got her the opportunity to explore.
The ‘Victory’ hitmaker said that everyone who heard her sing said she was good, and they kept calling her to perform for them. “It’s been a struggle because sometimes they’d call me, but there was no money for transport,” she recounted.
Joyce Blessing praised Kwasi Ernest and expressed how grateful she was.
“I didn’t give up, and Ernest supported me through it all, and I will always be thankful for him. I got noticed by people and media houses because of him. Whenever he’s going to the media houses, he took me along. Then he will tell producers about me that I’m good so they should play my music, which really helped because people started noticing me.”

The gospel singer further extended praise to her ex-husband, Dave Joy, for his contribution, which led to the success attained in her musical journey.
Joyce Blessing on Zylofon Music Contract

The Ghanaian gospel musician recounted the criticisms she faced after being signed on the Zylophone music label.
Joyce Blessing revealed that she was branded as an occultist.
“I had a lot of challenges that anytime I remember I laugh it off. They said I was on a record label that was full of artists who do wordly songs. People had a problem with it but I didn’t have any problem, so I wasn’t worried.”

Joyce Blessing added that being signed to the record label was one of her greatest achievements, as it allowed her to work with renowned industry personalities. “I had the opportunity to work with Bullgod,” she added.
