King Promise Hopes To Be Prestigious Artiste of the Year

Renowned Ghanaian musician, King Promise has expressed high hopes of winning the prestigious Artiste of the Year award at the upcoming Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).

The ‘Terminator’ hitmaker has been nominated for the Artiste of the Year, Afrobeats Artiste of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, International Collaboration of the Year for ‘Terminator 2’ and ‘Perfect Combi’, Best Afropop Song of the Year.

Among the contenders are some of Ghana’s most prominent musicians, including Black Sherif, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, Sarkodie, and Stonebwoy.

Reflecting on the past year’s hard work and accomplishments, the talented singer revealed that he would be deeply disappointed if he did not clinch the coveted title.

“We’ve done one hell of a job. I am not blowing my horn or saying stuff but I feel that this is one of the awards that everyone has spoken about the most in a very long time. You can tell what we have done with all our releases in the past year and the work we’ve put in just representing the motherland to the rest of the world and worthy face of Ghana music.”

The 25th Telecel Ghana Music Awards will be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on June 1, 2025.

Other categories to be awarded on the night include Songwriter of the Year, Record of the Year, Collaboration of the Year, Most Popular Song of the Year, New Artiste of the Year, and Gospel Song of the Year.

King Promise Releases New Song

King Promise releases a new song titled “Favourite Story”, featuring the legendary rapper Sarkodie and rising star OliveTheBoy.

This track is one of the songs from his highly anticipated upcoming album, Note To Self, set to drop on June 14, 2024.

This comes after successful releases including ‘Terminator’, ‘Perfect Combi’, and ‘Paris’ which have shot King Promise to higher levels on the international music scene.

King Promise has developed a unique sound, drawing inspiration from Ghanaian Highlife, Afrobeats, and R&B.

In “Favourite Story”, King Promise delivered his signature smooth vocals, Sarkodie delivered powerful rap verses, and OliveTheBoy added his unique touch.

The “Perfect Combi” hitmaker revealed that he sent the song to Sarkodie through a message and his response amazed him.

“I hit Sarkodie and I told him that I have something for him, randomly, and I sent it to him. This is one of the first songs I sent to him and his reply was his verse. He sent me a reply to my message, rapping his verse via voice note. You could see he felt it right away.”

According to him, he added OliveTheBoy’s voice to his newly released because he needed a fresh touch and expressed his love for his [OliveTheBoy’s] “Asylum” song.

The song’s release has ignited excitement on social media, with fans eagerly sharing their thoughts and reactions to the song.

Most of the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with listeners praising the three artists for doing their thing on the tune.

Many fans have also expressed anticipation for King Promise’s upcoming album.
