Kwabena Kwabena Warns Against Fake News

The Ghanaian highlife musician highlighted two key challenges that have plagued the country’s music industry over the past two decades.
The singer expressed concerns over the damaging effects of false rumors and the lack of investment in artists.
According to him, the first major issue is “konkonsa” (gossip). He explained that misinformation and falsehoods have negatively impacted the image of musicians, affecting their reputation and career progression.
“People say, write, and publish false things about musicians just to trend, sometimes with little or no knowledge about them or the issue at hand.”

The ‘Aso’ hitmaker called for an end to this harmful practice, stressing how damaging it has been for artists over the years.
The second challenge he raised was the lack of investment in musicians. He noted that many talented artists in Ghana have the potential to break international barriers but lack the financial backing to do so.
“Corporate institutions and individuals need to invest in the craft of artists. There are so many good musicians out there who need support, but it is not happening.”
