The Lagos State Police Command has officially added Owodunni Ibrahim, also known as Primeboy, a childhood friend of the late singer Mohbad, to its wanted list, adding that he was among those present during the singer’s final moments.
This decision was communicated via an announcement from the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, on Wednesday.
According to the police statement, Primeboy’s wanted status stems from his refusal to honor the police’s invitation.
The authorities have put a handsome reward of one million Naira on the table for anyone who can provide information leading to the whereabouts of the suspect.
The police urged individuals in the know to come forward and share this valuable intel at the nearest police station. The statement reads;
“Following his failure to honor the police invitation successfully sent to him since the commencement of investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of Mr. Ilerioluwa Aloba aka Mohbad, the Lagos State Police Command hereby declares wanted Owodunni Ibrahim aka Primeboy.
“Ibrahim is approximately 1.64 m tall, male, dark-complexioned with tribal marks, and Yoruba by tribe. His last known address is 3rd Power, Oke Eletu, Ikorodu. If seen, contact the nearest police station or call 0803 688 5727. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Idowu Owohunwa, hereby offers a handsome reward of N1,000,000 (One Million Naira Only) to anyone with useful information leading to his arrest.”
The Statement
There were reports on social media claiming Mohbad and Primeboy had a rift before his demise.
Reacting to the rumors via Instagram video, Primeboy claimed they were on good terms before he died.
“I keep seeing a lot of rumors out there, that something happened on Sunday, maybe that led to the death of Mohbad. Nothing happened on Sunday. Nothing happened between me and my friend, we were fine from the Island,” he said.
“Whoever says I kill my friend, God will judge you except if I have a hand in it. What really happened that Sunday, me and Mohbad were on stage together and Mohbad was fucking high that day. So he sat down in his car after we came down from the stage. His wife was sitting in our middle so I do not know anything that happened, he was just grumpy. He wanted to get out of the car and I was like do not get down, wait, let me go and clear the road.”

He further stated that he knew nothing about Mohbad’s death and did not even touch him, adding that, Mohabd hit him but he did not retaliate.
“God knows, his wife was there also, and the Prado man and security. Please do not say what you do not know to make your investigation. I did not have any issues with Mohbad, he called me all the time I do not stay with them please, and please I know nothing,” he noted.
Autopsy Delay Suggests Possible Foulplay
In a recent tweet, popular Twitter doctor Olufunmilayo expressed concerns over the delay in conducting an autopsy on the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad.
With a growing number of fans eager to uncover the truth behind the unfortunate demise of the talented artist, Olufunmilayo’s statement suggests the possibility of foul play surrounding Mohbad’s mysterious death.
It can be recalled that Mohbad died on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, and was buried the following day.
Dr. Olufunmilayo blamed the police in his statement for delaying the release of the autopsy findings for so long.
He made a point of stating that preliminary autopsy results are generally accessible within 48 hours of the examination, making the lengthy silence surrounding these results rather puzzling.
Dr. Olufunmilayo voiced his amazement at the choice by the government to withhold these findings from the general public.
He stressed that this opacity can unintentionally feed the public’s growing suspicion that the police are working closely with those related to Mohbad’s tragic death.
Parts of his tweet read;
“You can choose to release the preliminary report now and rescue your already damaged reputation before a public that is already wondering if you are cooking up a lie; Or you can choose to continue to delay, withhold the report, and hope that nobody will remember, but let me assure you: you will only succeed in fully confirming to the skeptics that indeed you are not to be trusted and you are potentially corrupted and compromised.
“The choice is yours. It is not yet too late to do right. You can choose honor or dishonor. Again, the more this report is delayed, The more the public will believe that the government and the police are working behind the scenes to cook up a lie. You can do right or you can do nonsense. The choice is yours. Thank you.”
