Kumawood star, Maame Serwaa has shared some valuable life lessons she learned following her mother’s untimely passing.

The Knutsford graduate revealed that, despite her young age, she has experienced some harsh realities that have made her more cautious about whom to trust.

The curvy actress, who aspires to be a filmmaker, emphasized the importance of keeping receipts and documentation when helping others, as it can serve as useful evidence in the future.

Maame Serwaa recounted how her mother was a generous person, revealing that it was only during her mother’s funeral that she discovered her mom had been paying school fees for several tertiary students, something none of her children had known about.

“Many people owed money to my mother, and it was during the funeral that we learned the names of those individuals. The family was encouraged to reach out for repayment after the funeral.

“My mother placed a lot of trust in her friends, and did not document loans; she never took collateral or informed her children about her financial dealings. After her passing, some individuals denied ever borrowing money from her, while others boldly claimed that they had already repaid her.”

Maame Serwaa also shared the emotional turmoil she endured following the passing of her mother, Mrs Rose Amoateng Benson.

The Kumawood actress revealed how her mother’s death, combined with hurtful public accusations, pushed her to the brink of depression.

“It’s not easy. I was very close to her. I remember talking to my mum, and she said she wouldn’t die until she had held her grandchildren in her arms. Everyone who was close to me knew how tight I was with my mother.”

She expressed deep pain over rumors that falsely accused her of being responsible for her mother’s death.

“I was very hurt when I heard people say I had killed my mother or used her for something. Let’s say I wasn’t who I am today or I was just an ordinary person—would people still say such things about me.” she questioned.

The actress revealed that the backlash had a severe impact on her mental health, leading her to contemplate suicide on multiple occasions.

“I felt really bad. There were times I would look at myself in the mirror and ask, ‘Am I a bad person?’ I tried to harm myself on so many occasions. I felt that I had lost a part of myself. The people around me even restricted my access to my phone because they didn’t want me to see what was being said about me online.”

Maame Serwaa revealed that she was proud of her natural physique and had never felt the need to enhance her features through surgery.

However, she did admit that she might consider going under the knife in the future, but only to reduce the size of her breasts.

“I haven’t done any body enhancement before. The only time I considered it was to reduce the size of my breasts because I felt they were too large. If I ever decide to have a procedure, it would be that.”

The actress, real name, Clara Benson, added that if she chooses to undergo breast reduction surgery, she would document the process to help educate others about its importance. “Even if I decide to do it, I would make sure to document it so others who might want to undergo the same surgery will understand it’s not just about fashion,” she added.

The popular Ghanaian actress finally broke her silence about the viral tattoo on her hand.

While she appears to have a few tattoos, this particular one has sparked speculation about whether it was the name of her boyfriend.

Maame Serwaa, who has stayed away from media interviews for several years, made this rare appearance for the very first time following her recent completion of her first degree.

Addressing the rumors surrounding her tattoos, she stated that while she genuinely loves tattoos, it does not mean she intends to cover her entire body with them.

She also clarified the long-standing speculation about the visible tattoo on her hand, which many assumed was the name of a secret lover.

Maame Serwaa firmly debunked the claims, revealing that the tattoo reads “Young Legend”.

According to her, this was a name she picked up from social media users when she moved to Accra to pursue tertiary education.

“When I moved to Accra to start school, many of my followers began calling me ‘Young Legend’ because they believed I had achieved a lot in the movie industry at a young age. Since it sounded nice to me, I decided to adopt it.”
