Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Oxlade has referred to his sex scandal from a year ago as a blessing in disguise.

According to him, the sex scandal was just a testament to how big his career had gotten.

Oxlade explained that the scandal which was meant to destroy his career, rather uplifted him.

“No pain no gain, the bigger the level, the bigger the devil. As your greatness is getting to an uncontrollable stage, people will try to limit it. Right after that, my life got bigger. It’s a test, at every stage in your life, oh that’s how you cherish greatness, when something big is about to happen to you, something bad comes along,” he stated.

Addressing if he believes the scandal was a good omen, “It’s not an omen, anything can happen, expect the best and expect the worst. Anybody can switch up. Who you call your brother may not actually be your brother,” he said.

He was jokingly praised for his sexual prowess in the video to which Oxlade responded confidently.

“You gotta hold it down. The men have to feel proud,” he responded.

The “Culosa” hitmaker, however, further added that he will never ever be caught in another sex scandal.

According to him, after creating and recording the ‘Non-Living Thing’ song, he reached out to Sarkodie and gave it to him to sing because he felt it was too big for him as an up-and-coming artist by then.

He noted that giving the song to Sarkodie was one of the best decisions he has ever made in his music career because of how he supported and gave him opportunities at the initial stages of his life.

Oxlade narrated how he approached Sarkodie on the song and gave it to him because of his level in the music industry.

“Literally, I was the one who told him [Sarkodie] that I have a song for you. ‘Non-Living Thing’ was meant to be a song on my own project. It is literally a record I created and I was like, no, this song is meant for Sarkodie after I wrote it. There are some songs you write, you’re just a vessel at the end of the day if you know your song. So I knew in my heart that this song was not mine so I performed it to him,” he said.

“Afterwards, he came to Lagos to do his promo, and then I played it to him, and I was like damn, ‘bro let’s have it.’ He agreed then we shot the video. For the next three months, the song became one of the biggest songs, It was crazy,” he recounted.

He further expressed his gratitude to Sarkodie for his support of his musical career.

“That [Giving ‘Non-Living Thing’ song to Sarkodie] was one of the best moves I made in my career. I just felt like associating myself with the right people really got me to where I am right now,” Oxlade said.

He also expressed his gratitude to Bakunle for helping him reach out to Sarkodie.

“My big bro; the landlord. It was special honestly because Sark spotted the whole talent before the whole of Ghana saw it and that was the most amazing thing about it. There’s a big bro of mine, his name is Bakunle and he was just playing artists from Nigeria to Sark, basically all the artists popping right now and you know, Sark just developed an interest in me and he reached out. I’m so grateful to Bakunle.”

He disclosed that there was a song Sarkodie was working on with Wande Cool but he doesn’t know why they couldn’t clear the song and Sarkodie sent him the beat to jump on it.

The ‘Non-Living Thing’ song by Sarkodie featuring Oxlade was released in the latter part of the year 2021 and became one of the most popular songs in the country and beyond.
