Controversial Ghanaian preacher, Evangelist Patricia Asiedu Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has lashed out at Empress Gifty on the first day of their legal battle.
In a video, the two ladies made their way to the Tema High Court to battle it out after the gospel singer sued Agradaa for GHS 20 million.
The leader of the Heaven Way Chapel accused Empress Gifty of engaging in multiple affairs with pastors and other men to finance her lifestyle. Her accusations came on the heels of a war of words with the singer’s husband, Hopeson Adorye.
The ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker retaliated by filing a lawsuit for defamation of character. The court case between Empress Gifty and Nana Agradaa kicked off at the Tema High Court on Wednesday, June 11, 2025.
Nana Agradaa arrived at the court in a defiant mood, dressed in all-white, which signifies victory in Ghanaian culture. The prophet’s husband, Angel Asiamah, accompanied her to the premises.
She shouted out Empress Gifty’s catchphrases she has appropriated for herself since the start of their beef. “Noko fine, noko tantaliser,” she said, mocking her opponent.
Empress Gifty was also spotted appearing in court in a more sombre mood. She arrived with her husband, Hopeson Adorye.
Ghanaians shared their opinions on the two personalities clashing in court for the first time.

Empress Gifty’s Lawyer Speaks After First Court Appearance

The Ghanaian gospel musician’s lawyer spoke after he and his client appeared at the Tema High Court for the first hearing in the defamation case against televangelist Agradaa.
After the hearing, the ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker’s legal counsel detailed everything that happened in court during their appearance.
Empress Gifty’s lawyer noted that he and his client attempted to seek an injunction to restrain the Heaven Way church founder from continuing her verbal assault against his client.
He stated that they could not move the motion for the injunction since Agradaa’s legal team failed to appear at the Tema High Court for the first hearing in the defamation case.
The lawyer noted that the televangelist had also applied to dismiss Empress Gifty’s GH₵20 million defamation lawsuit against her and end the legal battle.
According to him, Agradaa’s legal counsel has argued in their application that the televangelist had only insulted his client and not defamed her in any way.
He stated that he and Empress Gifty had also filed an affidavit in opposition to the televangelist’s application and continue to pursue the case in court.
The lawyer revealed that Agradaa’s allegations against his client amounted to defamation and that there would be another hearing on June 26 for the judge to look at both the televangelist’s application and their affidavit before moving forward with the case.
The Empress’s lawyer’s remarks after the court stirred reactions from netizens.
“Lawyers of Agradaa are not helping her. Why did he not show up? I pray this court case makes her pay the 20 billion.”

In a video, the ‘Watch Me’ hitmaker beamed with a smile as she, her husband, and her team prepared to leave the Tema High Court premises.
Empress Gifty was in high spirits as she engaged in a friendly conversation with Adom FM presenter Mike 2 as they spoke about a new black 2024 model Toyota Tundra with a customised number plate with her ‘Noko’ catchphrase.
The 2025 TGMA Traditional Gospel Song award winner encouraged the radio personality to verify the validity of the car’s ownership and insurance.
The gospel musician’s manager, Edem Tsotsorme, stepped in and declined, stating that the matter had not been resolved in court yet, when asked to comment on the defamation case.
