Ghanaian musician and Black Avenue signee, Sefadzi Abena Amesu known by the stage name S3fa has stated that abortion is no big deal and those who condemn the act are hypocrites.
Speaking in a recent interview, the ‘E Choke’ singer noted that a number of people have done abortions but publicly criticize those who are bold to tell their stories.
S3fa’s comments come in the wake of Yvonne Nelson’s confession of having an abortion 13 years ago in her recently launched memoir, “I am Not Yvonne Nelson”.
She said:
“Do you know the number of people who have done abortions in Ghana? The people criticizing Yvonne Nelson have probably done worse things than her but they are here saying all sorts of things about her as if they are innocent”.

Asked if she would ever disclose having an abortion considering that it is frowned upon in our part of the world, the curvaceous singer said:
“If I am to write my memoir today and there is a portion where I have to include an abortion or anything personal about my life, I will not hesitate to add that part of my life story. Unless I decide not to write a book but if I do, I will go all out with it including an abortion if I did that”.

S3fa started her career as a singer performing with live bands at bars, pubs, and events in Accra. In 2017, she was signed by Black Avenue Muzik after D-Black, the Chief Executive of the record label reached out to her via social media platform Instagram. She released her debut single ‘Marry Me’ featuring Jupiter the same year.
She also followed up with Shuga featuring musical duo DopeNation in May 2018.
In November 2020, S3fa released her debut album Growth. The twelve-tracked album featured the likes of EL, Camidoh, Fameye, Sista Afia, Wendy Shay, Bisa Kdei, Medikal, and Nigerian singer Praiz.
S3fa grabbed the Afrobeats Song of the Year award with ‘E Choke’ at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
Playing many shows not equal to money
S3fa debunks the impression pointing out that mounting every public stage doesn’t mean an artiste is still hot or is even making it financially.
She revealed private gigs rake in very good money and it is where she has been plying her trade lately.
The E Choke hitmaker explained that people often assume musicians who play a lot of shows make loads of money but that is not entirely true.
She added:
“Although you see a musician moving from one show to the other doesn’t mean he or she is still relevant and making money as well. Some musicians play shows for free, especially during festive seasons. Sometimes, playing at a show is an avenue to promote one’s new album or a single or to entertain fans who have not seen you in a long while.
“However, it will interest you to know that a musician who plays a few private shows makes more money than a musician who plays 20 public shows”.

According to S3fa, she is now more into private shows and she is making good returns.
She added:
“I believe music is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. To write a song, record it, and finally push it with a lot of money to become a hit is not a small job. Some musicians have even gone through depression putting in the works just to make sure their songs are bangers but are yet to see the results.
“For me, to constantly get a hit song is by the grace of God. I always say it is God because there are very talented musicians who have great songs but are struggling to get hits”.

Touching on what she’s been up to concerning music, S3fa disclosed she is almost done with her EP titled Body Of Work which should be ready by the end of the year and she assured that Ghanaians will love it.
