Pete Edochie Reacts After Kanayo’s Claims

Nigerian legendary actors, Pete Edochie and Kanayo O. Kanayo

The legendary Nigerian actor, Pete Edochie, has brilliantly educated those who may be unfamiliar with his storied past in the world of acting.

He graciously shared insights into the origins of his notable career, following a claim by his colleague, Kanayo O Kanayo, that he became part of Nollywood before him.

Kanayo O. Kanayo, in a trending video, made bold claims about being a senior to veteran actor Pete Edochie in Nollywood. The actor clarified that Edochie launched into cinema projects before him, but when it came to Nollywood, he is a senior to the Lion of Africa.

In a noteworthy response, Pete Edochie voiced that he is older than Nigeria’s movie industry, Nollywood.

The admired cinematic figure emphasized that back in 1985 when he portrayed his role in “Things Fall Apart”, the very concept of Nollywood had not yet taken root. According to him, the film industry was still in its embryonic stages.

The patriarch of the Edochie clan went on to reveal that Nollywood only came into being seven years later with the innovative release of “Living in Bondage”.

“I am a senior in the movie industry. When I did Things Fall Apart in 1985, there was nothing like Nollywood. By then, Nollywood was slumbering sonorously in the womb of time”, Pete Edochie said.

Pete Edochie delved into how “Things Fall Apart” served as a catalyst for his illustrious career, propelling him to fame as an actor.

He recounted his journey experiences and even mentioned how the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) ventured to Nigeria to interview him and arranged for him to visit America for a meeting with Chinua Achebe, the esteemed author of the book that inspired the film.

Claims of involvement in money rituals

Veteran Nollywood actor, Kanayo O Kanayo has vehemently denied being involved in money ritual activities.

The actor, who has been stereotyped in movies as a ritualist, has made it clear that he is not and will never be part of money rituals.

He emphasized that he has never participated in money rituals and claimed it was not a good thing to be involved in.

The renowned actor stated that “Nnanyi Sacrifice” was something someone called him during the funeral of millionaire businessman Obi Cubana’s mother, and he rejected it.

The actor/lawyer claimed that the label of ritualist has persisted despite his refusal. Kanayo O. Kanayo added that as long as he is getting paid, he doesn’t care what others call him.

“Money ritual is not good and will never be good. I will never be part of it and have never been part of it. When you hear somebody call me ‘Nnanyi Sacrifice,’ it was just the name somebody called me during Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial. One thing about names is that immediately you start rejecting them, they stick. Call me any name you like, but pay me my cheque. If we listen to the message, we will change the society more. I am just a vessel”.

In another story, Kanayo O Kanayo reacts as a man opens up about being afraid of him over his ritual movies

He reached out to his millions of followers seeking advice on how to address a rather unsettling predicament involving a man who, due to Kanayo’s roles in money ritual movies, harbors apprehensions about meeting the actor in person.

Via his official Instagram page, the seasoned actor shared a snapshot of the man’s message, shedding light on the man’s unease.
