Popular veteran singer Paul Okoye known as Rudeboy, has expressed his deep sadness over the recent demise of Nollywood legend John Okafor, famously known as Mr. Ibu.
The Nollywood industry was struck with grief on Saturday, March 2, 2024, when the news of Mr. Ibu’s passing surfaced, leaving fans and colleagues in shock.
Rudeboy, who was actively involved in Mr. Ibu’s final moments, shared his sentiments on social media, disclosing the emotional toll of witnessing the actor’s health decline.
The singer revealed that he had spent several weeks in the hospital by Mr. Ibu’s side, hoping for a recovery.
Despite his efforts and unwavering support, Mr Ibu eventually succumbed to his illness.
Expressing his anger, Rudeboy took to social media to question the divine plan.
“I slept in the hospital with you for several weeks just to be there with you and all… and you still left. God why?? #mribu. Aswear forget !!! Nothing dey for this life,” Rudeboy wrote.
Rudeboy took to social media to post a video of the late Nollywood icon, Mr. Ibu, shortly before his death.
Sharing the poignant video on his Instagram story, Rudeboy revealed a heartfelt moment captured just hours before Mr. Ibu’s demise.
The video, shared by Rudeboy, showed Mr. Ibu offering prayers and blessings to the singer from his hospital bed, indicating a close bond between the two.
Expressing his sorrow, Rudeboy captioned the post with poignant words, stating, “This broke my heart the more.”
The emotional clip depicted Mr. Ibu expressing gratitude towards Rudeboy for his unwavering support and companionship during his hospitalization.
Mr. Ibu, visibly touched by RudeBoy’s presence, thanked him for staying by his side and blessing him for his dedication.
Also, Nigerian controversial activist, Verydarkman shared his thoughts on the demise of the popular Nigerian comic actor.
Verydarkman, who followed Mr. Ibu’s case since the actor asked for public assistance last year, went online to give his two cents on what caused the death of the comic actor.
He stated that the famous actor went into surgery at 4 a.m. on Saturday and never came out alive.
Yul Edochie Advises His Fans Following Mr. Ibu’s Death
Actor-turned-pastor Yul Edochie recently took to his Instagram page to share an insight about death.
Following the unfortunate passing of Nollywood actor Mr. Ibu, Yul Edochie told his fans and followers not to fear death. He explained that death was a transitional process that awaits everybody.
He also revealed that no matter what people say or do, people will always come and people will always go. He advised netizens not to fear death, but rather they should prepare for it.
He further cautioned them to be fair in their dealings and also learn to forgive easily, adding that they should apologize when they hurt others and keep their hands and their heart clean.
As Nigerians and celebrities in the movie industry pen tributes to the late veteran actor John Okafor, an old video from his 61st birthday resurfaced on social media.
Mr Ibu, a die-hard fan of Premier League club Chelsea, expressed gratitude to his maker while announcing his age in the old video.
The veteran comic actor desired to witness 100, especially as his mum passed away at 90.
“I do not know what is going to happen when I get to 100 years but I know that I want to leave a history in this country,” the late Mr. Ibu said.
Also, as proof of his love for the West London club, the late Mr. Ibu revealed that he named his only biological daughter “Chelsea”, adding that he named his house after Chelsea’s home stadium, Stamford Bridge.
