Nigerian actor turned politician, Desmond Elliot, has become one of the trending topics on social media, specifically Twitter as he is being compared with Ugandan musician turned politician, Bobi Wine.
Bobi Wine is currently contesting for the Presidential seat in Uganda to oust the incumbent President, Yoweri Museveni, who has been in office for the past 34 years.
The election’s generational clash has been widely watched in many African countries where, booming youthful populations express their happiness since BoBi Wine who in his youthful age, has taken up the mandate to challenge Yoweri.
However, some section of Nigerians have taken to social media to compare Desmond Elliot and Bobi Wine since both are deemed young politicians and this has resulted in some serious trolling of Desmond Elliot.
According to most of the Nigerian social media users, Bobi Wine is a great man of honor as his will power to fight for his country, most especially the youth, is greater than Desmond, who only got the opportunity to be in politics and joined the other corrupt politicians instead of fighting for the youth in his country.
@OZO_Njenje Tweeted:”Bobi Wine joined politics refused to join the cycle of corrupt old fool killing Uganda this made him the voice and face of opposition in Uganda. Desmond Elliot joined politics and went to national TV to brag about being product of god fatherism. Shame, the difference is clear”.
@ajanballer Tweeted: “Bobi Wine went into politics to challenge an oppressive system,DesmondElliotwent into politics to support an oppressive system“.
@dj_switchakolic tweeted: “Let’s not compare Bobi Wine with Desmond Elliot though. It’s a huge disrespect to Bobi Wine. If we are being very honest. One wants to rebuild his country,The other one wants to fill his country with mobile toilets. One is a patriot, the other is an idiot. You know who is who“.
@Mayorspeaks tweeted: “Politics for Desmond Elliot is a retirement plan after his Acting career, on the other hand, Bobi wine is at a younger age-fighting an oppressor who has been oppressing the people of Uganda for 34years“.
It can be recalled that ,Elliot declared his intentions in September 2014 to run for Lagos State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress. He contested and won the Surulere Constituency during the 11 April 2015 Nigerian General Elections.
In October 2020, during the End SARS protest, Desmond was bashed for allegedly supporting the Anti-Social Media Bill in Nigeria; a scenario he earlier denied when the news first filtered in via social media.
In a viral video circulating all over the internet, he was seen vehemently criticizing social media users and influencers and stating that if the Nigerian state doesn’t stop social media, social media will destroy the Nigerian state.
