Ghanaian media personality and communication specialist, George Quaye has touted the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards as one of the best that has been organized so far.
George Quaye, who used to be the lead communications director at Charter House, the organizers of the VGMAs made this statement when he was asked about his opinionn of the show now that he is no longer with them. According to him, for an event to be successful, it doesn’t take just one person but a whole team to make it work.
“It was beautiful. If anyone out there thinks that only one person makes all these happen, then that person must be retarded. If you look at 3Music awards and say that the magic done was by Sadick alone, then you are joking. The point is that all these things are collaborative, it’s a team effort. If one member leaving the team makes the team fail, then that team is not a strong team. One member leaving the team should only show the strength of the team and that is what Charter house did. If you ask me, I think this has been one of the best VGMA that has been organized.
“Kudos to the team. I think they pulled off a magical show. Again, like I wrote it was ‘near flawless’ because it had just a few technical hitches but aside that, the show was beautiful”.
Speaking of technical hitches during the show, it can be recalled that when Joe Mettle and Diana Hamilton were opening the show with a performance, Joe Mettle’s microphone wasn’t functioning. Well, some people speculated that it was a deliberate attempt to sabotage the gospel artist. Reacting to this, George said:
“No, it can never be deliberate. I mean who would like to destroy their own event. They are just technical issues because in the auditorium Joe Mettle could be heard. It’s just a feed that goes to the TV and it is a human being that is controlling these things. So, for anyone to think that it was a deliberate thing please, it can never be a deliberate thing”.
That notwithstanding, when asked for his views concerning Diana Hamilton emerging as the ultimate winner of the event, George emphasized that Diana deserved to win that category. According to him, everyone who was nominated in that category had the potential of emerging the winner however, it is only going to be one person at the end of the day.
“Well deserved if you ask me. I think that what we mostly forget is that the honor lies in the nomination. We will have a reason to cry and wail if they had brought someone out of the category to win it. But once the one who won it was a nominee of that category, I think we should all rally and congratulate the person”.

Well, George Quaye isn’t be the only person to state that Diana Hamilton deserves the award as she herself in an interview has mentioned that she deserved the award. According to her, she had high hopes of winning the award at the end of the show.
Diana further emphasized that she was not added to that category for fun but to win, therefore, she deserved it just like any other artiste who was nominated in that category.
The gospel musician also commended Kidi for being such a gentleman for giving her a standing ovation and also congratulating her after she was announced as the ultimate winner.
