Nollywood actress cum wife of Nigerian billionaire, Regina Daniels, has claimed she was unaware of the Naira scarcity during the Naira Redesign Policy by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
It can be recalled that the CBN had, in a bid to implement the cashless policy, redesigned the N200, N500, and N1000 Naira notes.
The policy generated outrage among many Nigerians, especially as the newly redesigned notes were unavailable during that period, and the old notes were not accepted for business transactions. Also, during the period, many Nigerians could not access their money in banks, which negatively affected businesses.
Amidst the Naira scarcity, Regina Daniels took to her Instagram page to flaunt a bunch of new Naira notes, gifted to her by her husband, Ned Nwoko, infuriating many Nigerians.
Addressing the backlash, the movie star said she was unaware of the Naira scarcity that trailed the redesign of some banknotes.
Regina acknowledged that she failed to see the hardship that followed the redesign from other people’s perspective until she posted the Naira notes online.
“Personally, I don’t use cash to buy anything at all, in fact, I don’t hold cash, so during that cashless policy, I was not even aware that there was such a policy, because I don’t use cash. So I did not really see it from other people’s perspective that there was a crisis in the country until I posted,” she said.
“I told my husband then to send me some cash because I wanted to buy food at a location. So, he sent the cash and I made a Snapchat and posted it. When I started seeing people’s reactions, I was surprised until I was told of the cashless policy. After seeing how people reacted to it, I had to delete the post. But that time I really felt bad because people wouldn’t understand that I did not really know.”

Marking Nigerian’s 63rd Independence Day With Family
Actress Regina Daniels joined others to mark Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Day.
Taking to her official Instagram page, the movie star shared a series of photos of herself with her politician husband, Prince Ned Nwoko, and their two sons, Munir and Khalifa.
Regina and her boys rocked matching green Ankara outfits while her billionaire husband looked simple in white native attire with his signature red cap.
In the caption of the lovely photos, Regina celebrated Nigeria with glowing words. According to her, she believes in the country. She also announced that it was her birth month.
“Happy Independence Day to my country NIGERIA. Nigeria is a great nation and I believe in it! Great Nigeria! Great ✊ WELCOME TO MY BIRTH MONTH,” she wrote.
Regina Daniels described her marriage to 62-year-old billionaire Ned Nwoko as being better than the online perception. She revealed that her husband pampered her and that she didn’t have to do any house chores. She also said that they laugh when they read negative comments about their marriage online.
“My husband is a real Odogwu. If I want to sleep for one week, he will allow me to sleep and make sure no one disturbs me. He doesn’t allow me to cook or clean. He gives me anything I want without thinking too much about it. My marriage is sweeter than what you post on social media,” Regina said.
Regina Daniels was just 19 years old when Nwoko and Daniel’s controversial marriage took place in 2019, and for days afterward, it trended on social media. Ned Nwoko has six wives, with Daniels being the last.
