Gospel musician Diana Hamilton has acknowledged that working with the same management team from the beginning of her music ministry has been beneficial.
Talking about the need for churches with record labels and individual artists to get the right music executives to work with, Diana advised in an interview that getting professional hands is not enough.
She noted that it takes time for things to fall into place in the music business.
She told the host:
“For me, if anything has worked it’s been the same team. If anything at all, we’ve added on. We didn’t take out”.

The ‘Adom’ hitmaker also recounted that her manager King David used to drive with her to radio stations across the country for music promotion.
Diana noted that it is usually difficult to get people with the expertise to handle artists at the beginning of their careers.
Using herself as an example, Diana Hamilton said for a long time, she was not making money from her music but her managers did not leave her, rather, they have grown with her and are moving her projects desirably.
She said:
“My two managers came on board when we were not making a dime. When we didn’t have the following when we didn’t know our way. So when they came in with their professionalism, they still understood what was in me and were willing and to invest and had the patience to wait for it to mature organically so that it can stand the test of time”.

She added:
“People come in straight away, they try three months with somebody and they move on, so the investor or the professional comes in with all the ideas because you can have all the ideas but people’s minds are so open that not all the ideas can work in a specific time”.

Advising artists to cherish teams that start with them and possibly merge both old and new teams when necessary, she said:
“We the artists are very quick to throw away the people that brought us from the beginning to abandon them and go for the professionals”.

It’s by the Grace of God
Stressing the need to factor time in the music business, the 2021 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Artiste of the Year indicated that for those starting, the professionals may come in with all the ideas they have read in the books but later realize that there is time to all the things they have read about.
She attributed her success in the music industry to hard work, the help of her management, and the Grace of God.
