Zapp Mallet Supports Michael Blackson’s Claim That Ghana Has Only Four Artistes

Zapp Mallet

Actor, philanthropist, and comedian Michael Blackson has asserted that there are only four superstars in Ghana, unlike in Nigeria, and legendary Ghanaian sound engineer Zapp Mallet has defended him.

In a recent interview on the well-known American podcast “Drink Champions”, the well-known American comedian sparked a significant uproar by claiming that Ghana could only boast of four music superstars, compared to Nigeria’s eight.

Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sheriff, and Shatta Wale were identified by Michael Blackson as the only superstars.

Zapp Mallet, who was expressing his opinion on Michael Blackson’s claim in an interview, claimed that the American comedian was telling the truth.

The renowned sound engineer claims that many artists are succeeding beyond expectations but that the media has only chosen to focus on the four named performers.

Let’s put the media to blame. This is very problematic since the media has made it seem like these artists are the only talented ones Ghana has.

The experienced sound engineer refused to name the artists he feels are being ignored by the media, saying instead,

“There are many musicians who also deserve the excitement that Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sheriff are relishing”.

He added that many musicians deserve the same level of hype or even more than the four superstars mentioned by Michael Blackson.

He added;

“I can’t mention names, but there are a lot of musicians who also deserve the hype than Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif are relishing”.

According to Zapp Mallet, the media needs to do a better job promoting other talented musicians in the country, which supports Jupitar who revealed in an interview that he has been headlining shows, yet the media ignores his achievements.

Ghanaian music superstar Fuse ODG has taken an exception to a recent comment by comedian Michael Blackson that there are only four Ghanaian music superstars unlike there are in Nigeria.

Michael Blackson in a recent interview on the popular American podcast “Drink Champs” where he introduced his newly signed artist revealed Ghana could not boast of more than four (4) music superstars, unlike Nigeria.

According to Michael Blackson, Nigeria on the other hand has an uncountable number of superstars.

Blackson said on the Drink Champs;

“Nigeria has all the stars. Nigeria is like the New York of music in Africa and Ghana is like the Dubai of Africa I can only count about four superstars in Ghana. We have Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, and Black Sherif”.

Michael Blackson

Blackson recently signed Gambo to his Michael Blankson music label and said he would make him Ghana’s fifth music superstar.

“I want to make Gambo the fifth star and that’s why I signed him”.

Gambo is a well-known entrepreneur and the CEO of BlackMob, an organization founded to provide young people with a platform to showcase their abilities in modeling, studio work, rapping, and other forms of entertainment throughout Ghana, Tanzania, the United States of America, and other countries.

Perhaps as an afterthought, the comedian who recently established a school in his hometown in Ghana in a tweet mentioned Fuse ODG as one of the music superstars he forgot to mention on the podcast.

He wrote;

“Can’t forget @FuseODG ????????”.

Michael Blackson

Fuse ODG, however, was not excited about his comment asking him to do better.

Fuse ODG revealed Michael Blackson’s comments on the podcast were unfortunate especially when he (Fuse ODG) had introduced him (Michael) to a lot of Ghanaian artists.

He wrote;

“Mike…I don’t know how you go on @Drinkchamps and say there are only 4 artists in Ghana. Not cool bro. I’ve personally introduced you to a lot of GH artists in GH! smh. Stop embarrassing us on these platforms… You’re supposed to educate them”.
