Polls win elections

VOTE

A recent special poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics in August has found that 65% of voters in the Bono East region believe Ghana is headed in the wrong direction.

The poll, which covered Pru East, Sene West, Kintampo South, and Techiman South constituencies, reveals a significant majority of voters are dissatisfied with the country’s current trajectory.

The poll also revealed that a minority of 17% of voters are optimistic about the country’s direction, believing it is headed in the right direction, while 18% remained undecided or expressed no opinion.

“62% of voters disapprove of the job performance of the president while 27% approve and 11% did not have an opinion”.

The poll also asked voters to name the best-ever head of state, with Kwame Nkrumah emerging as the clear winner, garnering 56% of the vote.

The remaining contenders trailed behind, with Jerry Rawlings at 36%, Atta Mills at 34%, JA Kufuor at 33%, John Mahama at 23%, Nana Addo at 9%, Dr. Hilla Liman at 4%, and Edward Akufo Addo at 3%.

The latest poll from Global InfoAnalytics for the 2024 presidential election also shows John Dramani Mahama with a significant lead, capturing 56% of the vote, followed by Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia at 26%.

The polls further indicated that Alan Kyerematen and Nana Kwame Bediako trail behind with 6% and 9% respectively.

According to Global InfoAnalytics, the polls for the parliamentary elections in Sene West show Twumasi Ampofo of the NDC leading with 52% of the vote, followed closely by Mckay Kumah of the NPP at 38%.

The remaining candidates collectively captured a 9% share of the vote, with a small 1% of respondents still undecided.

Pru East Poll: NDC’s Boam Leads With 37%

According to Global InfoAnalytics, the Pru East constituency poll shows Kwaku Boam of the NDC in the lead with 37% of the vote, followed by Yussif Appeh Apetorgbor of the NPP with 18%, Kwabena Nimako, an independent candidate, with 26% and 19% of respondents remaining undecided.

The polls also revealed that in Kintampo South, Felicia Adjei of the NDC is in the lead with 29% of the vote, closely followed by Alexander Gyan with 25%, while a significant 46% of respondents remain undecided.

“And in Techiman South, Martin Adjei-Mensah Korsah, NPP, leads with 59%, Christopher Beyere, NDC, 20%, others, 1% and undecided, 20%”.

“The Electoral Commission’s 2020 voters’ register was used as a sample frame. Electoral area samples were weighted using the voter register for the electoral areas. Voters were sampled randomly from selected Electoral Areas in the constituencies”

Global InfoAnalytics

Global InfoAnalytics clarified its methodology, emphasizing that only registered voters were surveyed and that field interviews were conducted from July 22nd to 27th, 2024, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the poll results.

As such, the polling agency also indicated that demographic analysis of the results would have a higher margin of error.

Meanwhile, Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, reaffirmed his earlier statement, emphasizing that the 2024 elections will yield surprising outcomes, rendering historical trends irrelevant, and maintaining his confidence in this prediction.

In response to the polls, he emphasized that candidates who fail to address the major concerns of voters will struggle to win, highlighting that the 2024 election is squarely focused on key issues.

“If 5,000 of your voters say they will not vote for you out of the 10,000 margin you obtained in the last election (voters apathy effect). That is minus 5,000 votes favoring your opponent that is if they don’t vote at all (turnout loss). If another 5,000 switched to vote for your opponent, that will make it a swing of 10,000. You will hear ‘kum’ on the election day”.

Mussa Dankwah

Dankwah observed that this scenario is likely to produce the shocking outcomes that Global InfoAnalytics has been predicting.
