Ejisu NPP’s Primary: Former Second Vice Chairman Emerges Victorious

The former second Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng has clinched victory in the party’s parliamentary primary in the constituency with a resounding 394 votes.

The primary election, which drew significant attention from party members and political observers alike, showcased a diverse field of candidates vying for the coveted position.

Among them were prominent figures such as Dr Evans Duah, a financial expert and lecturer at the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development, Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi, the former President of the Ghana Football Association, Klinsman Karikari Mensah, and Helena Mensah among others.

However, at the end of the polls, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng ultimately garnered an impressive tally of 394 votes, significantly ahead of his closest competitors, demonstrating widespread support from party faithful within the constituency.

Helena Mensah, another notable contender in the race, secured a commendable 302 votes, showcasing a formidable challenge to Boateng’s bid while Yaa Akyemaa Aboagye also garnered significant support from voters, amassing 229 votes in her favour.

Other candidates, including Dr Evans Duah, Portia Acheampong Abronye, and Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi, received varying degrees of support from voters, further reflecting the diversity of opinions and preferences within the constituency.

Interestingly, Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey failed to secure any votes, signalling a significant setback for her aspirations within the party.

In total, the primary election saw an impressive turnout, with a total of 1035 votes cast by delegates of the ruling New Patriotic Party in the Ejisu Constituency.

Following his victory, Lawyer Kwabena Boateng expressed gratitude to party members for their unwavering support and pledged to work tirelessly to address the needs and aspirations of the constituents.

Per the outcome of the parliamentary primary Lawyer Boateng would represent the ruling party in the upcoming by-election as announced by the Electoral Commission of Ghana following the untimely demise of the former Member of Parliament, Dr John Ampontuah Kumah Esq.

Agona West Incumbent  MP Suffers Defeat in Parliamentary Primary

Meanwhile, in a surprising turn of events, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primary election in the Agona West Constituency witnessed the emergence of a new frontrunner, Christopher Arthur, who clinched victory with a significant margin, unseating the incumbent Member of Parliament, Cynthia Mamle Morrison.

The eagerly anticipated primary election saw a fiercely contested battle among several aspirants, each vying for the opportunity to represent the NPP in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

Among the contenders were notable figures including Yawson Otoo, Ben Yamoah, and Joseph Afankwah, each presenting their unique visions and agendas for the constituency.

However, at the end of the poll, Christopher Arthur emerged as the clear favourite among party faithful, garnering an impressive 240 votes, thus securing his position as the NPP’s Parliamentary Candidate for the Agona West Constituency.

The primary results also saw strong showings from other candidates, with Ben Yamoah securing 221 votes and Yawson Otoo also securing 168 votes, respectively.

On the other hand, Joseph Afankwah and Cynthia Mamle Morrison trailed closely behind, with 155 and 152 votes, respectively.

In total, the primary election witnessed an impressive turnout, with a total of 940 votes cast by delegates of the ruling party in the Agona West Constituency.

Following his resounding victory, Christopher Arthur expressed gratitude to party members for their overwhelming support and pledged to work tirelessly to address the pressing needs and concerns of the constituents.
