He acknowledged the bittersweet nature of the path he had treaded, acknowledging both moments of triumph and adversity.

However, he noted that amidst the fluctuations, he remained steadfast and resolute in his commitment to the welfare and development of the people of Ejisu, Ashanti, and Ghana at large.

“Today, as I hold the mantle passed on by my dear friend and brother, Hon. Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah Esq., I am filled with a deep sense of duty and purpose. His legacy, his vision, lives on through me, through us”.

Dr Evans Duah

Assuming the mantle passed on by his dear friend and predecessor, the late Honourable Dr. John Ampontuah Kumah Esq., Dr. Duah expressed a profound sense of duty and purpose.

He emphasized that the legacy and vision of his predecessor would continue to thrive through his stewardship and leadership as a Member of Parliament for the good people of Ejisu Constituency.

With a resounding pledge to prioritize the welfare, development, and well-being of the people of Ejisu, Dr. Duah strongly asserted that his vision and mission transcend mere political rhetoric.

He underscored that his candidacy symbolizes a commitment to the people, by the people, and for the people.

The Significance of Ballot Number

Moreover, the Mandela Washington Fellow, Dr. Evans Duah expressed the significance of his selection of number two as his ballot number ahead of the party’s primaries.

Drawing parallels with notable political figures including the Vice President and the late  John Kumah, who both selected number two as their ballot numbers during their respective elections, Dr Duah interpreted it as a sign of destiny, reinforcing his conviction as the rightful successor to the late Member of Parliament for the constituency.

He strongly posited that the number two on the ballot paper signifies more than just a position on the polls as it symbolizes hope, unity, and progress as well as the representation of the continuation of the good work laid out before him by the late lawmaker.

In addition, the renowned academic emphasized that adversity would not deter his collective pursuit of progress for the people of Ejisu Constituency.

He thus called for unity and perseverance, urging citizens and delegates alike to join him in his bid to become the Member of Parliament for the Ejisu Constituency on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

He further underscored the importance of each vote, emphasizing its significance in shaping the future of Ejisu, Ashanti, and Ghana as a whole.

Meanwhile, all the nine aspirants seeking to contest in the New Patriotic Party’s Parliamentary primary in the Ejisu Constituency have been cleared by the vetting committee.

The list includes. Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Dr Evans Duah, Klinsman Karikari Mensah, Helena Mensah, Jacqueline Abena Pokua Amoah-Boaitey, Portia Baffoe Abronye, Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi, Aaron Prince Duah and Yaa Akyawmaa Aboagye.

The primary is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 13, 2024, to elect one of the nine candidates to represent the ruling party in the by-election following the demise of John Kuma.
