In a passionate open letter to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Eric Edem Agbana, Member of Parliament for Ketu North and former Deputy National Youth Organizer, has called for calm and unity amidst mounting tensions over a recent dinner invitation.
The event, organized privately by a group of individuals, has sparked debate among party faithful, particularly among young members who felt sidelined. Mr Agbana’s message was clear: senior members must guide the youth with wisdom, while the younger generation must remain focused on the bigger picture of party progress and national development.
In his statement, Edem Agbana emphasized the need for senior comrades to engage young members constructively rather than dismiss their concerns. He noted that many young NDC supporters have faced significant hardships due to their political affiliations, including job losses and missed opportunities.
“ Many of them have also fiercely defended our party on social media, often enduring vile attacks on our behalf. If some of them feel hurt over not being invited to a dinner, the solution is not to dismiss their reactions but to guide and mentor them constructively.”

Addressing his peers, Hon. Agbana urged young party members to prioritize long-term opportunities over transient issues.
He highlighted President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to creating sustainable jobs and an enabling environment for the youth to thrive. “While receiving an invitation to a dinner is a wonderful experience, our focus should remain on long-term opportunities that will secure a better future for us all,” Hon. Agbana wrote.

A Call to End the Commentary
The former Deputy Youth Organizer of the ruling National Democratic Congress also made it clear that he was not invited to the dinner in question, but this omission did not diminish his relevance or contribution to the party.
He further clarified that the event was neither state-sponsored nor financed by the party’s structures but was instead a private initiative.
In a conciliatory tone, Edem Agbana urged all party members to cease further commentary on the matter, which he described as a distraction from the party’s broader goals.
He encouraged the NDC to redirect its energy towards unity and progress, emphasizing that the party’s success lies in collective effort. “Let us redirect our energy towards unity and progress for the greater good of our party and country,” he concluded.
Eric Edem Agbana’s call for unity reflects the spirit of solidarity that the NDC seeks to embody. As the party rallies its members to focus on its core objectives, he underscored the importance of mentorship, constructive engagement, and maintaining a shared vision for the future.
