The Central Regional Secretariat of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has thrown its weight behind Nana Obokom Atta IX for the upcoming Council of State elections, scheduled for February 11, 2025.

The decision, which has received the approval of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, underscores the party’s belief in his capacity to effectively represent the region at the national level.

As a leader with a strong business acumen and a history of job creation, he embodies the qualities needed to influence national policies that will benefit Ghanaians.

His extensive experience in governance places him in a prime position to offer informed and strategic counsel to the President and the government.

As outlined in Articles 89 to 92 of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, the Council of State plays a crucial role in advising the President on key national issues. With a body of seasoned statesmen and women, the Council serves as an essential check on executive decisions, ensuring that governance is guided by diverse expertise.

A Key Financier of the NDC’s Growth

According to the statement issued, Beyond his leadership capabilities, Nana Obokom Atta IX has been a major financier of the NDC, both within the Central Region and at the national level. This financial commitment speaks volumes about his dedication to the party’s vision and sustainability. The NDC recognizes that financial contributions are crucial in sustaining grassroots mobilization, electoral strategies, and party activities.

Additionally, his continued support has strengthened the party’s structure, enabling it to compete effectively in national politics.

However, this aspect of his candidacy should not be overlooked, as it demonstrates a deep-seated belief in the ideals of the party. His financial support has not only benefited the party but has also translated into real gains for communities through social interventions.

“The Council of State plays a crucial advisory role to the President and the government, providing guidance on national issues, policies, and legislation. It serves to ensure that the government’s decisions are informed by a diverse range of perspectives and experiences, thereby enhancing governance and promoting national unity.’’

This means that electing the right individuals into this body is not a matter of favoritism but a decision that will impact governance at the highest level. It is, therefore, imperative that delegates in the Central Region make a strategic choice that aligns with the region’s interests and the broader objectives.

“To this end, the NDC is mindful of the impact such elected members would have on the party’s reset agenda and therefore calls on all delegates to vote for NANA OBOKOM ATTA IX.’’

It is our conviction that his election to the Council of State will not only benefit the Central Region but will also contribute positively to the nation’s progress and the party’s reset objectives.
