The National Democratic Congress (NDC) held presidential and parliamentary elections on Saturday, May 13, in Ejura Sekyedumase, in the Ashanti Region. On that day, money was seen being thrown at a crowd, and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced that it is looking into Madam Juliana Kinang-Wassan, one of the candidates for parliament from the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, who was spotted engaging in such acts.
She was deemed necessary for inquiry, the OSP claimed.
“You are directed to attend the Office of the Special Prosecutor at 6 Haile Selassie Avenue, South Ridge, Accra on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10 am for interviewing. You may be accompanied by counsel of your choice,” a letter from the OSP said.
The police added that they were evaluating the candidate’s behavior. “A dedicated legal team is currently scrutinising her conduct in the video to establish whether there are elements of election-related crime to warrant Police intervention or otherwise,” the Police said in a statement.
A move by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to invite NDC MP candidate Juliana Wassan for allegedly throwing money during Saturday’s primaries at Ejura, according to Captain Kwame Jabari (rtd), First Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ashanti Region, is “crazy.”
“What is the OSP’s locus in this matter; is the OSP crazy?” Jabari fumed in an interview on Monday, May 15. He alleged, “The Office of the Special Prosecutor has been selective in the execution of its mandate.”
Asiedu Nketia Declares The NDC Party Is Now Ready To Win The 2024 General Elections
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) claims that the results of its primaries for president and parliament on Saturday, demonstrate unequivocally that the party is capable of winning the 2024 election.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the NDC’s National Chairman, claims that the caliber of those elected demonstrates the party’s will for success.
The NDC has chosen John Mahama as its presidential candidate for the elections of 2024, as well as legislative candidates to represent it in the various constituencies. Over the weekend, the party organized primaries around the country.
Johnson Asiedu Nketiah declared that the NDC is prepared for battle, during the announcement of the presidential results.
“We are happy that so far, the quality of candidates that have been produced in this election gives us confidence that we will go into 2024 and win the presidential and win a considerable majority in Parliament and also deliver on the charge of rescuing this country. We are not going to say we have the men. We want the men to prove themselves for you to say that yes, the NDC has the men.”

17 incumbent Members of Parliament were denied the opportunity to run in the elections of 2024. However, John Dramani Mahama secured the victory with 98.9% of the vote.
“I am humbled by the overwhelming confidence reposed in me by the party. I want to thank God for bringing the NDC this victory. Traversing the country for all these days, weeks, and months without fatalities can only be by God’s special favour.
“My profound gratitude goes to the delegates of our party for their warm welcome, active engagement, and participation during my tour. In your usual astute manner, you turned up in your numbers across the country to vote in our party’s presidential and parliamentary primaries.”
