In a strongly worded statement, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has categorically rejected the Electoral Commission’s (EC) re-collated and redeclared parliamentary election results for seven constituencies.
The opposition party described the declaration as illegal and a deliberate manipulation aimed at undermining Ghana’s democracy.
The disputed constituencies include Obuasi East, Techiman South, Ahafo Ano South West, Ahafo Ano North, Tema Central, Okaikwei Central, and Nsawam, leaving Dome Kwabenya and Ablekuma North as the remaining constituencies to be addressed.
The NDC, led by its General Secretary Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, accused the EC, under Chairperson Jean Mensa, of acting with impunity and pursuing a path that compromises Ghana’s electoral integrity.
“These results, declared under questionable and illegal circumstances, represent a blatant assault on Ghana’s democratic principles and a betrayal of the sovereign will of the Ghanaian people.
“It is abundantly clear that the Electoral Commission, under the leadership of Jean Mensah, has consistently chosen a path of illegality and impunity”.

The opposition party alleged that the EC’s actions have not only eroded public confidence in the electoral process but also exposed a deliberate scheme to disenfranchise voters and subvert the will of the people
The NDC expressed grave concerns about the EC’s violation of a Stay of Execution order served against it, describing the Commission’s actions as a “flagrant violation of the law” and “a clear indication of their contempt for due process and the rule of law.”
This, the party contended, is part of a broader agenda to manipulate election results in favor of the ruling government. The NDC warned that electoral crimes have no statute of limitations and assured Ghanaians that those involved would be held accountable in due course.
The statement also highlighted the NDC’s concerns over what it described as a “troubling collusion” between the EC, the police, and the military. This alliance, the party claimed, has facilitated the unlawful manipulation of election results while intimidating and oppressing innocent citizens.
Despite these provocations, the NDC praised its supporters for maintaining peace and heeding calls to avoid confrontation with security forces deployed in the affected constituencies.
Silence of Moral Authorities and Call to the International Community
In a pointed critique, the NDC expressed disappointment with the National Peace Council and other moral bodies, accusing them of being complicit through their silence.
According to the party, the absence of condemnation from these institutions “speaks volumes” and undermines efforts to protect the integrity of Ghana’s democracy.
The NDC appealed to the international community to take note of what it termed as the EC’s dangerous and unlawful actions.
The statement emphasised that these actions pose a significant threat to Ghana’s peace, stability, and democratic progress. “We call on our international partners to closely monitor these developments and hold accountable those whose actions jeopardize the democratic gains Ghana has achieved over the years,” the statement urged.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to defending the will of the people, vowing to resist any attempts to undermine Ghana’s democracy.
According to the NDC, their focus remains on ensuring that the voices of Ghanaians, as expressed in the December 7 polls, are respected and upheld.
“We will not relent in our fight to defend the will of the people and ensure justice prevails. The NDC will continue to mobilize its supporters and rally Ghanaians to resist any attempt to overturn the people’s mandate,” the statement concluded.
The Electoral Commission’s re-collation and redeclaration of results have sparked significant controversy, further intensifying political tensions in the country.
With the NDC rejecting the results and accusing the EC of collusion and illegality, the integrity of Ghana’s electoral system is under intense scrutiny.
