Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has expressed his admiration for the NPP flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Adjei Agyepong.
According to him due to his stellar performance of his campaign launch, he is the candidate those in the media should be giving a lot more attention to in the flagbearership race of the NPP.
“… I followed the launch of Kwabena Adjei Agyepong. To be honest with you, his six-point plan really resonated with me. So far, in that field, all ten of them, he’s the only person who has impressed me. The last time we were discussing with some colleagues, everybody was emphatic that Kwabena Adjei Agyepong should be watched when it comes to content, vision, and what this country really needs.”

Mr Ablakwa revealed that he particularly likes the flagbearer hopeful’s stance on issues pertaining to government. With this, he indicated that Mr Agyepong clearly stated that government cannot continue with its ballooning side of government.
“… He goes back to the constitution – nineteen cabinet portfolio, he says that will be it. Nineteen and no more… Quite drastic proposals, cutting down substantially, even all of these agencies, realigning them and then talks about ruthlessly fighting corruption and presents a strategy for uprooting the canker of corruption… ”

Furthermore, Mr Ablakwa stated that Mr Agyepong in his speech clearly took an indirect swipe at the chair of the economic management team, Dr Bawumia, who he stated, promised industrialization and “we are at the IMF on a stretcher, to use his words verbatim”.
Owing to this, Mr Ablakwa stated that Mr Agyepong’s message did “really resonate with me and he speaks so well and I think he is touching on the matters that are of concern”.
“… It’s not this everyday rudimentary politics of every constituency will get ten jobs, all of those old archaic ways of doing politics that only balloons public purse. You go and create hordes of people in the name of presidential staffers and it comes to haunt all of us. It affects the economic emancipation of our country/. Instead of reserving resources and investing them in the production sector, so that we can industrialize, create jobs and lift our people out of poverty, it’s the same old when you listen to most candidates out there.”

Commenting on the candidacy of Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the NPP flagbearer race, the North Tongu legislator agreed with many pundits who are of the view that they are surprised that Bawumia has the “effrontery and audacity” to even put himself forward as a potential flagbearer of the party. He highlighted that Dr Bawumia has been struggling now to distance himself from President Akufo-Addo, claiming he served President Akufo-Addo, who currently has his approval rating is so low.
“When you look at all the polls, people now say he is the worse President the country has ever had. So, I’m not surprised that even his own Vice President is struggling to distance himself from a President who has become toxic by his performance… When he says that I served my boss but I have my own vision, we heard that vision, you’ve had the opportunity to implement that vision as head of the economic management team, and you’ve now run away from the economy reality, after this disastrous outcome, after destroying so many families, households and jobs. I mean look at the state of pensioner bondholders, look at what is happening with food suppliers. These people have destroyed too many lives…
