People Of Assin North Have Spoken, They Want Me To Represent Them In Parliament- Quayson

Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson

Member of Parliament-elect for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson, has expressed his gratitude to the people of the constitutency, revealing that they want him to represent them in parliament following his win in the by-election.

According to him, he is deeply humbled by the confidence the people have expressed in what he stands for and what he has done. He indicated that he is also fully aware of the reciprocal responsibilities that this massive show of confidence imposes on him.

To this end, Mr Quayson pledged to work as hard as he can for the people who have made his win in the by-election possible.

“The people of Assin North have spoken. They have said without equivocation that they want me to represent them in the 8th Parliament. They have told us to stop the politics and focus on solving their problems. This is a victory, not just for me and the NDC but also for justice.”

Mr Quayson stated that he sought the position because of his deep commitment to the Assin North Development agenda. As such, he noted that he remains determined to mobilize resources from within and without to prosecute the agenda with all his energy no matter the cost.

“I also want to express my profound gratitude to the many people who are responsible for the resounding victory we have chalked and who share in the honour that have been bestowed on me.”

Furthermore, the new parliament-elect for the Assin North expressed his gratitude to his family who have stood by him in the best of times and the worst of times. Also, he thanked the flag-bearer of the “great NDC and incoming President of the republic of Ghana, H.E John Dramani Mahama for his encouragement and invaluable support”.

“I thank my NDC family, the national executive, the council of elders, the parliamentary caucus, our central regional executives and Assin North constituency executives, branch executives, polling agents and all other members and officers of the party who have stood with me through thick and thin.”

Also, Mr Quayson appreciated his campaign team who worked assiduously with limited resources and all others who reached out to him to express support, empathy, encouragement.

“Finally, I thank the good people of Assin North for coming out to deliver the clearest message about the direction that they want Assin North and the country to take. Let us come together to build a better Ghana for our posterity.”

It will be recalled that the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Assin North by-election emerged victorious in Tuesday’s polls.

At the end of the by-election on June 27, 2023, Mr. Quayson polled 17,245 votes representing 57.56 percent of the total votes cast to beat Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).

Meanwhile, members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), have poured in their congratulatory messages to Gyakye Quayson.

Taking the lead, the flagbearer of the party, John Dramani Mahama, thanked the people of Assin North, for “supporting James Gyakye Quayson and rejecting the non-performing NPP in today’s by-election”. He stated that the vote for Justice and Development by the people is truly inspiring.

Also, Member of parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Apaak, has congratulated the residents of Assin North. He stated that they have shown the way by “taking the money and items but voted for Quayson”.

“The money is yours, Ghana’s money, and the items yours, bought with Ghana’s money. Let all follow the lead by Assin North. Take the money, take the items but Vote JM/NDC in 2024.”
