The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has relieved some key Ministers and Deputy Ministers of their portfolios in his government with immediate effect.
In a statement released by the Communications Directorate of the Jubilee House on Wednesday, February 14 2024, the list of the Ministers whom President Akufo-Addo relieved from their respective positions include Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta, Minister of Interior Ambrose Dery, Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman Manu, and Minister of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation, Dr Kwaku Afriyie.
The list also include the Minister of Information, Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Minister of Roads and Highways, Honorable Kwesi Amoako Atta, Minister of Works and Housing, Honorable Francis Assenso Boakye, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Honorable Lariba Abudu, and Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Honorable Daniel Kwaku Botwe.
Others include the Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Honorable Freda Prempeh, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Ibrahim Mohammed Awal, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quatey and Oti Regional Minister, Honorable Joseph Makuda.
The Deputy Ministers who have been also relieved of their various positions include, the Deputy Minister of Information, Ms Fatimatu Abubakar, and the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development, Honourable Collins Ntim Aboagye.
The Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitization, Honorable Ama Pomaa Boateng, Deputy Minister of Health, Honorable Tina Mensah and Honorable Mohammed Asei Seini, Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Honorable Abdulai Abango have all been relieved of their positions.
Others include the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Bentuo Owusu Bio, Deputy Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Honorable Moses Anim, Deputy Ministers of Energy, Honorable William Owuraku Aidoo, and Honorable Andrew Egyapa Mercer, Deputy Minister of Education Gifty Twum Ampofo and Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Honorable Bright Wireko Brobbey.
“The President personally expressed his sincere appreciation directly to each of the Ministers and Deputy Ministers, who have exited Government, for their commitment competence, dedication and hardwork in office, which helped in the realization of government’s mandate to the Ghanaian people over the last seven years, and wished each of them well in their future endeavors”.

New Ministerial And Deputy Minister Appointment
Following the re-organization of the government, President Akufo-Addo has also submitted to Parliament for prior approval through the Speaker, Rt. Honourable Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, the names of the following persons for appointment as Ministers and Deputy Ministers of State, in accordance with articles 78, 79 and 236 respectively of the Constitution.
Dr Bernard Okoe-Boye is the Minister designated to the Ministry of Health, Honorable Ophelia Mensah Hayford is the Minster designated to the Ministry of Environment, Science Technology and Innovation, and Ms Fatimar Abubakar, Minister designated to the Ministry of Information.
Honourable Darkoa Newman is the Minister designated to the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and Honorable Martin Adje-Mensah Korsah is, the Minister designated to the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development.
Again, Honourable Lydia Syram Alhassan is the Minister designated to the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources, and Honorable Andrew Egyapa Mercer is, Minister designated to the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture while Honourable Titus Glover has been nominated as the Greater Accra Regional Minister with Mr Daniel Machator nominated as the Oti Regional Minister.
The Deputy Minister nominees include Honorable Sylvester Tetteh as the Deputy Minister of Information, Honorable Vincent Ekow Asafuah as the Deputy Minister of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development with Honorable Charles Acheampong as the Deputy Minister of Communications and Digitization.
Also, Honorable Adelaide Ntim and Honorable Alexander Akwesi Acquah have been nominated as the Deputy Minister of Health with Honorable Dr Prince Hamidu Armah nominated as the Deputy Minister to the Works and Housing Ministry while Honorable Akwesi Konadu has been nominated as the Deputy Minister of Land and Natural Resources.
Again, Honorable Musah Abdul Aziz Ayaba has been nominated as the Deputy Minister to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development with both Honorable John Kobina Sanie and Honorable Collins Adomako Mensah nominated as the Deputy Ministers of Energy.
Moreover, Honorable Kingsley Nyarko has been nominated as the Deputy Minister of Education while Honorable Festu Awuah Kwofie is nominated as the Deputy Minister of Employment and Labour Relations with Honorable Benjamin Sekyere Yeboah nominated as the Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection.
President Akufo-Addo expressed his hope that Parliament will once again, on a bi-partisan basis expedite the approval of his nominees to join his government as soon as possible and assist in the delivery of his mandate for his second term in office.
Meanwhile, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has re-assigned some Ministers of State and Deputy Minister of State to new offices and has directed that they assume their respective duties with immediate effect.
For instance, President Akufo-Addo has re-assigned the Honorable Mohammed Amin Adam to the Ministry of Finance and further re-assigned the Honorable Henry Quartey o the Interior Ministry, with the Honorable Francis Asenso Boakye also re-assigned to the Ministry of Roads and Highways.
President Akufo-Addo has re-assigned the Honorable Kojo Oppong Nkrumah to the Works and Housing Ministry while he re-assigned Honorable Ambrose Dery to the Office of the President as the Minister of State, Honorable Abdulai Abanga re-assigned to the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development as a Deputy Minister.
