NDC’s Communication Officer Defends Party’s Achievements in Education

Sammy Gyamfi Esq. NDC's National Communications Officer

The National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi Esq., has mocked the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s “It Is Possible” campaign slogan with severe criticisms of the latter’s leadership as the head of the Economic Management Team under the current administration.

Mr Gyamfi, in a scathing critique, underscored what he describes as the numerous failings and unfulfilled promises made by the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party administration, painting a bleak picture of the country’s current economic and social conditions.

He began his critique by agreeing, albeit sarcastically, with the New Patriotic Party flagbearer’s slogan, noting that “IT IS POSSIBLE” aptly captures the negative trends under Dr Mahamudu watch, elaborating on several points to substantiate his argument.

COCOBOD must Adapt, not Disappear — Finance Ministry Advisor Defends COCOBOD’s Existence

“Folks, one profound campaign message of the NPP and Alhaji Bawumia that I agree with, is their campaign slogan, “IT IS POSSIBLE”.   This is because:  IT IS POSSIBLE for one dollar to cross GH¢20 under the watch of Bawumia, having increased from GH¢4 in 2016 to over GH¢15 already”.

Sammy Gyamfi, NDC’s National Communications Officer

Among several criticisms, the National Communications Officer of the opposition party underscored the increasing unemployment rate, which he claims has risen from 8.4% in 2016 to 14.7%, with the potential to exceed 20%.

This, he argued, is indicative of the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s failure to create sustainable job opportunities for Ghanaians as against his lofty promises made to Ghanaians while in opposition.

Sammy Gyamfi Esq. also criticized the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over the skyrocketing fuel prices, which he noted in recent times has surged with the price of a gallon of petrol rising from GH¢14 in 2016 to over GH¢68.

He warned that the situation could soon cross GH¢100, burdening ordinary citizens with higher living costs.

Ballooning Public Debt

Touching on the country’s ballooning and unsustainable public debt, the National Democratic Congress National Communications Officer did not mince words in chastising the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia over the country’s escalating public debt.

Mr Gyamfi emphasized that the country’s public debt under the current administration has risen from GH¢120 billion in 2016 to over GH¢630 billion, stressing that “it is possible for the public debt to cross GH¢1 trillion under the watch of  Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Moreover, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi accused Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of enabling corruption, referencing the loss of over $2 billion in the PDS scandal, which he claims was orchestrated by the Vice President.

He warned that Ghana could lose more than $10 billion to corruption if current trends continue.

Highlighting what he called “plagiarized promises”, Mr Gyamfi criticized Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s commitments to scrap various taxes imposed on Ghanaians by the current administration, including the E-Levy, Bet levy, and emissions levy.

He also posited that the Vice President has failed to transition the country’s economy from taxation to production, leaving many promises unfulfilled.

In addition, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi mocked Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s promise to provide electric cars to drivers, reminding the general public of the Vice President’s unfulfilled promise of constructing concrete roads made in 2017.

This, he asserted, is yet another example of the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s failure to deliver on his commitments.

Mr Gyamfi concluded his remarks by stressing that the high cost of living, which is evidenced in the lives of every Ghanaian serve as a stark reminder of the failures of the New Patriotic Party administration under President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
