Raab Resigns As Deputy Prime Minister

Dominic Raab, Former Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary For UK

The UKs Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary, Dominic Raab, tendered in his resignation letter. His resignation came after official enquiry found him guilty of bullying. The enquiry was conducted by an independent investigator Adam Tolley, after eight formal complaints about his behavior, during his tenure as Foreign Secretary, Brexit Secretary and Justice Secretary.

“I called for the enquiry and undertook to resign, if it made any finding of bullying whatsoever. I believe it is important to keep my word,” Dominic said.

Raab said, there was a “cultural resistance” from civil servants to some of his policies, the report says, including his proposal plan on the Bill of Rights and the parole system. “This perception war regarded by civil servants concerned as highly contagious and emphatically rejected by many,” Tolley wrote.

In one instance, a colleague felt the natural resistance remark has been “directed personally and unfairly at him” and “was insulted by it” Tolley added. “I do not find that (Raab) intended his comment personally, but was reasonably interpreted in that way,” Tolley disclosed.

The investigator who led the enquiry, Adam Tolley, wrote that Raab “has strong principles andis guided by them in practice.” “The DPM style is, in his own words, inquisitorial, direct, impatient, and fastidious.”

He is said to work a seven-day week, working “assiduously and typically from about 0730 until about 2200, Monday to Thursday.” Fridays, he dedicates them to constituency duties, he added.

The enquiry conducted against the Ex-Prime Minister and Justice Secretary, Dominic Raab, involved 66 interviews, from those who have been victims of the said verbal bullies.

The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak has expressed heart felt appreciation to Mr. Raab, for the enormous work he did. In the ending part of his letter, he reminisced some of Dominic Raab’s government roled and the work he oversaw, including stepping in for Boris Johnson, when the Former Prime Minister was admitted in hospital with Covid, in 2020.

“You provided the country with reassurance at the moment of profound national concern, I was struck by the collegiate way in which you handled the most difficult of challenges,” Rishi Sunak, Prime Minister of UK said.

Sunak’s Letter To Raab

The Prime Minister wrote a letter to Mr. Raab to accept his resignation, and describe accepting his letter “with great sadness.” Appearing to come to terms with some of the allegations leveled against Dominic Raab, Rishi Sunak said it was “clear there have been shortcomings in the historic process.”

The Prime Minister disclosed the issue have “negatively affected every involved,” and “we should learn from this how to better handle such matters in future.”

“But your resignation should not make us forget your record of delivery in both this government and previous administration,” Sunak wrote, adding Raab’s achievement should make his “extremely proud.”

The findings of the enquiry into Dominic Raab’s bully allegations, revealed that the accused “acted in intimidating manner.”

“Raab acted in a manner which was intimidating, in the sense of going further than was necessary or appropriate in delivering critical feedback, and also insulting, in the sense of making unconstructive critical comments about the quality of work done (whether or not as a matter of substance any criticism was justified),”
