A popular gay nightclub in Colorado Springs known as Club Q, has been attacked by an unknown suspect with five dead and twenty- five others injured from the shooting. The suspect has been taken into custody and is being given medical treatment. This occurrence is the latest mass shooting in America, and the authorities are still trying to figure out the details of this tragic incident.
Many residents in the Atlanta are concerned about their lives and are currently dealing with a wave of emotions after the shooting occurred. Residents are shocked and this tragedy still remain fresh in their minds. Some officials in the area shared their condolences and offered their support and prayers to the people who were affected by the shooting.
A leader of an LGBTQ group for black gay people in Atlanta stated that, while there has been much progress of the LGBTQ community in the inclusion of society, members of the LGBTQ community still remained “targeted.”
“We have a common bond beyond our skin color, beyond our sexual orientation, beyond all of the societal differences that we have; if we came together, we could curb the tide of hate, we could curb the tide of disunity. We can change.”

Some business owners in Atlanta have advised their fellow colleagues to adopt security measures in their shops and business places, in order to reduce the level of violence and protect themselves as well. Locals in the community expressed their grief and displeasure in the horrific treatment of the members belonging to the LGBTQ community.
LGBTQ Groups Speak Up About Colorado Shooting
After the tragic incident of a mass shooting that happened in Club Q, locals, members, advocates and groups of the LGBTQ community have spoken up about the latest shooting that went on in a bar where they can term as their safe place.
The LGBTQ groups stated that the fight for equality was not over, and there was much to be done to protect the LGBTQ community and fight against discrimination and hate in every way. A member of Hope United, a group with a strong LGBTQ backing, mentioned that this shooting should not be a cause for alarm to only the LGBTQ community, but for allies and all people who push for the safety and respect of all people.
Another group also stated that, it was unfair for people to be killed just because they were being authentic to themselves and they will not be silenced or be stopped. These two organizations suggested that the implementation of gun laws could be a way of stopping the community from being targeted.
A witness who was at the bar that night shared his experience of how the incident happened. He told the news team that he was on the dancefloor when he suddenly heard fortified gunshots. According to the man, he though it was the music that was playing but the authorities stated that that was when a lone man walked into the club and began to open fire.
The witness in a very sober manner, expressed his sorrow and fear of being killed by this suspect unknowingly at any time. He did not share in these thoughts alone, as many other members of the LGBTQ community expressed their fear, and many jilted about this tragic occurrence, that has planted fear in the hearts of the people of the LGBTQ community.
According to the police, there were two people at the club who performed a herculean task by confronting the attacker and stopping him from incurring any further damage. The police thanked these people and announced to the public that, the suspect who has been identified as Anderson Lee Aldrich, a twenty-six years old man still remains in police custody.
