The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) will tomorrow Saturday 22nd August, 2020 launch its manifesto for the upcoming December 7 elections. Information on their official tweeter handle indicate that the launch will start at 10 am GMT.

The launch of this year’s NPP manifesto will take place at the University of Cape Coast in the Central Region. The president is currently touring the Central Region where he is expected to launch the party’s manifesto. Due to the coronavirus, the manifesto will be launched virtually.

The NPP in a press release signed by the General Secretary, John Boadu stated invitations will, however, be given out to a selected few and zoom platforms have been set up for other party members in the country and around the world to join.

“For persons other than members of the party’s national council who wish to participate in the event to join the feed, such persons are encouraged to converge at the various regional offices of the party where the proceedings will be projected on large screens.”

From the press release, it is clear that the manifesto will capture all that the NPP as a party has been able to achieve as well as the promises for the next 4 years.

“Indeed, we are going to witness the launch of a manifesto that embodies the very spirit and aspiration of the Ghanaian and delivers prosperity for all.”

Prior to the launch of the party’s manifesto, the NPP just like the NDC who presented their achievements in the Green Book, launched a new website for tracking their infrastructure projects.

The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who launched the website on Tuesday, 18th August indicated that the website will enable Ghanaians track infrastructural projects undertaken by the Akufo-Addo government.

This is the 8th manifesto to be launched by the NPP since 1992 and according to the General secretary of the party, John Boadu, the manifesto was supervised by the Vice President.

A 9-member planning committee for the launch of the party’s 2020 manifesto was inaugurated on Thursday, August 13, 2020. The Committee is being chaired by Madam Oboshie Sai-Cofie.

The NPP have won 3 of the 7 elections conducted in the country since the inception of the 4th Republic. Since 1992, two elections have gone into run-offs; the 2000 and 2008 elections. Interestingly, two of the leading parties; NPP and NDC have won one each, the NPP in 2000 led by former President John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor and the NDC in 2008 led by Professor John Evans Atta Mills of blessed memory.

This year’s elections promise to be very interesting and special, one cannot wait for December 7. A former president contesting an incumbent that defeated him in the previous elections. Will it be 4 at peace or will it be another win for the opposition NDC led by Former President john Dramani Mahama?  Well, time will tell.
