Ghanaian award-winning hip hop artist, Joey B has said that the creative industry needs a young mind to take up the Ministerial position of that industry.

This comes in at the moment of lobbying as Nana Addo is set to be appointing heads of various ministries to form his cabinet. Accordingly, the showbiz community is anxious to see who becomes the next Creative Arts Minister or Deputy.

He made this assertion during an interview session on an Accra based radio station.

The “Akobam” singer expressed that there is a need to have someone in their youthful age who can understand the trend and cause a positive change in the creative industry.

When the name of the former MUSIGA President, who has now ventured into politics popped up, Joey B shot down ideas of Bice Osei Kuffour to be appointed as a Ghanaian minister explaining that, it is not the right time for Obour to become the head of the Ministry.

Joey B posited that even though Obuor is his friend, he thinks it is not the right time for him to take up the position of Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

“Obour is my friend but he should relax till it’s his time, he has changed my life but it’s not the right time for him to lead the ministry”.

The name of the president of the creative arts council, Mark Okraku Mantey, has also popped up as a candidate to appoint to the Creative Arts Ministry but Joey B says he won’t endorse his appointment either over the same reason he stated for Obour.

Meanwhile, celebrated gospel songstress, Philipa Baafi has recently asked those lobbying for others to be appointed into the government of President Akufo-Addo, to leave her name out as a potential appointee.

The staunch supporter of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who allowed the party to use her hit song ‘Go high’ in 2008, during the political campaign, has refused to put herself up for appointment at the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts.

When Philipa Baafi was asked whether she wanted to be appointed as a Deputy Minister in the Creative Arts Ministry, she declined to take such an offer if she’s ever considered.

She answered saying “No please I don’t want anyone to lobby for me to be appointed as Deputy Minister for the tourism, culture, and creative arts ministry. You see whatever is the case we have some of our elders ahead of us and whoever comes up for such a position, I will support them. As for that one whatever President Akufo-Addo says, he knows best. So should President Akufo-Addo come out with names of those he wants to work within government, we will all support those people wholeheartedly”.
