Mishasha, a Ghanaian singer and songwriter.

Ghanaian musical songstress, Mishasha, has disclosed that her recent music ‘1 by 1’, which featured Ghanaian dancehall artiste, MzVee, is about women empowerment.

She made this revelation during an interview session on an Accra based radio station, monitored by The Vaultz Media (TVM). She further mentioned that the agenda wasn’t only to consistently release music or make hits, but then, to make connections and impact her audience in a positive way.

“Music is all about connections. You just don’t put anything out there. First of all, you need to know your target audience, and that is what we look at. It is also about the algorithm…so looking at my collaboration with MzvVee, it was talking about women empowerment and we achieved that with MzVee”.

Speaking about her new song with Shatta Wale, ‘Dorothy’, she noted that the music was made to promote the “good sound of Afro-beats”. Recounting how the feeling was when she shot the music video with Shatta Wale, she asserted that it was an awesome experience as Shatta Wale, boosted her morale to do more before, and during the shoot.

“If you look at my new song ‘Dorothy’, it is that sound that you can connect with everywhere. Be it daytime, nighttime, party, or a wedding. ‘Dorothy’ is just that sound. Shooting with Shatta Wale was very exciting. Shatta has this fire in him that when you meet him ,it is very contagious. He is a very friendly person and we vibe very well. I love more of opened energy and Shatta gave me all of that vibe even before we shot the video”.

When asked if she had more collaborations with other artists, Mishasha revealed that she is already working on a project with Ghanaian dancehall superstar, Stonebwoy therefore, her fans should watch out for that. She also emphasized that she has several projects coming on and further stated that she will be collaborating with some other artists on those projects as well.

The dancehall/reggae artist further asserted that the support she has received and is still receiving from her fans is the drive that is keeping and urging her to be consistent even through this time of COVID-19. She also advised that artists shouldn’t put mediocre music out there since it is vital to invest in their craft.

“So far I am quite impressed by the support I have received from my fans, and the industry players. I get a lot of messages to keep the fire going and it keeps me going as well because sometimes, it is not easy especially during the COVID times. There is a lot of investment going on and it’s affecting everything…music itself is a business. So, if you don’t use the right strategy you are basically going to fail. Music is a great place to invest.

“First of all, spend a lot on quality sound production because, it is very important. Make sure your sound and lyrics are authentic… and you leave the rest with the marketing. I understand this pandemic affected everyone but don’t put anything out there and just sleep, you have to be consistent. I am happy to be one of the few people awake”.
