Fameye has asked musical artists especially those who are into the highlife music genre to keep up with it since it can win them a Grammy award.

Ghanaian highlife artist Fameye.

Ghanaian highlife artist Fameye has asked musical artists especially those who are into the highlife music genre to keep up with it suggesting it can win them a Grammy award.

The ‘nothing I get’ hitmaker made this assertion on his Twitter in a series of post. In an early post he wrote:

“don’t let anyone lie to you that these ‘Twi’ highlife songs can’t take you to the Grammys”.

In another post he wrote: “see, I am now going to do more songs in ‘Twi’, we are focused”.

Some social media users were supporting him and wishing him well. More so, some others were looking down on his will power to stay true to his roots. They argued that if the ‘Twi’ highlife would win a Grammy award, then it should have been during the time of Daddy Lumba and Kojo Antwi. Also, they criticized that the genre of music isn’t apt to win the international award. Therefore, he should forget about such a dream. Meanwhile, those in support said that, language is not a barrier in music. Since the likes of veteran musicians, Angelique Kidjo and Mombaza, won Grammy awards with songs in their local dialect. Some reactions from his post read:

ego fit aa like lumba den kojo antwi dems win am longest

FAMEYE’S MUSIC CAREER

That notwithstanding, Fameye, in a recent interview posited that he was the most outstanding artiste in Ghana. Therefore, he deserves to win the ultimate award; the ‘Artist of the year’ award.

Fameye has been nominated in 5 strong categories at this year’s edition of the 3Music Awards. He has been nominated for Highlife Act of the Year, Highlife Song of the Year. Similarly, Alternative Song of the Year and the Ultimate Artiste of the Year. The artist detailed why he deserves to win the most outstanding artiste of the year award.

He released several nationwide hit songs like ‘Okomfo Kwadee’ and ‘Long Life’ which featured Kwesi Arthur. He also released a solid 10-track album. Nonetheless, it featured astute artists like M.anifest, Bisa Kdei, Kidi, B4bonah and Amakye the rapper. All the records are doing very well on the digital music stores and also enjoying massive airplay.

Moreover, during the pandemic, Fameye managed to give his fans one of the most successful virtual concerts. It featured all the topmost Ghanaian artistes in September 2020.
