Reality TV star, Caitlyn Jenner has announced her interest to run for Governor of California seeking to replace Gavin Newsom in a recall of elections of the state.
Taking to her social media handle, the former Olympic athlete made her intentions known. Posting a release, she wrote: “I’m in! California is worth fighting for…”

In the release, Jenner who is a longtime Republican outlined her political perspective. She noted that Californians deserve better from their governor. She further emphasized that they are tired of having “career politicians” who have “over-promises” but have always “under-delivered”.
“California has been my home for nearly 50 years. I came here because I knew that anyone, regardless of their background or station in life, could turn their dreams into reality. But for the past decade, we have seen the glimmer of the Golden State reduced by a one-party rule that places politics over progress and special interests over people”.
Further outlining her reasons for running as governor she noted that the people of California need a leader with a vision, as her campaign will be a “campaign of solutions, providing a road map back to prosperity”. Also to turn their state around and finally to “clean up the damage Newsom has done to the state”.
Listing some of the damage Newsom has caused California, she noted in the release that, California now isn’t the California she used to know since it is now “Garvin Newsom’s California”.
Again, listing some places, she will be holding campaigns at, she;emphasized that she can’t wait to lead them as she is ready to;take up the great responsibility of changing the status quo.
She also called on all and sundry to help her in her fight, and concluded with a resounding “I’m in!”.
Reactions to Caitlyn’s announcement
Meanwhile, there have speculations that Jenner’s celebrity;status and name recognition will ensure she gets a;hefty dose of media attention. But many observers also worry that her lack of direct political experience wouldn’t take her far, just like some speculations that were made about Ghana’s John Dumelo.
Nonetheless, others mentioned that she shouldn’t;even attempt to run because she is sure to lose. According to them, she is a republican who is soliciting;votes from a state that is full of democrats.
However, according to a few people, the state has previously;elected two actors as its governors, Ronald Reagan;and Arnold Schwarzenegger respectively. Therefore, it can be possible that Caitlyn Jenner might win in the election.
That notwithstanding, the race against Newsom;has so far attracted three other Republican candidates: John Cox, a businessman, Kevin Faulconer, the former;mayor of San Diego and Doug Ose, a former US congressman.
