NPP has implemented social interventions than any party- John Boadu

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu has intimated that the NPP has implemented many social intervention policies more than any political party in the country since its inception.

Speaking at the occasion of the party’s 29th anniversary, he stated that the previous NPP administration to the now government have all contributed in this regard.

“There is no party that has done more than this party. Kufuor established the National Health Insurance Scheme, free maternal health care, he introduced the livelihood empowerment against poverty, he reviewed pension reforms for retirees.

“President Akufo-Addo has also continued with innovative social interventions. One of his greatest legacies is free senior high school education.”

John Boadu

Touting the party’s achievement, John Boadu averred that the various intervention policies by the party such as reviving of the nursing trainees’ allowance, teacher trainees amongst others have boosted these sectors and has also increased the employment rate in both sectors.

And as a result, the struggle for a clearer perception of Ghana’s social responsibility, the sovereign understanding of the meaning of progress in the task of putting the nation up, all citizens have a vital role to play.

“It is by this that we of the national council of elders, ask all party members and citizens of this great country to rededicate ourselves in loyalty and patriotism for the service of the NPP and Ghana.

“The loyalty and patriotism we talk about is not just ideal but challenges. We believe time demands innovation, imagination and firm decision making.”

He further noted that if the party is to succeed in the development of the nation, the old and the young together must cultivate the virtue envisaged by the founding fathers.

“For example, property rights, rule of law and the upholding of the rights of the individual. We should be brave of good character and humble and honest. These virtues are what we need to build Ghana our country in order to make it prosperous.

“In all things, we should remember that the NPP is the hall mark for democracy,;liberty and freedom and if we are met with cynicism, ridicule and doubt from those who ridicule the party, our answer should be that we in the NPP are resolved to walk… to build this country for all but not just for a privileged few.”
