Veteran Nollywood actor, Rich Oganiru, has died after battling with illness for some months.
It can be recalled that barely three weeks ago, a video of Rich Oganiru lying in his sickbed and begging for financial assistance was shared online.
“Please, everyone should reach out before he dies,” the caption on the post read.
Sadly, Rich didn’t survive the ailment as it has reportedly claimed his life, and one of his friends has announced his death on Facebook.
It is worth noting that Mr. Rich, was one of Nollywood`s very good actors and stakeholders. According to reports, he prided himself as one of the pioneering members of the Actors Guild of Nigeria and has starred in over 300 movies.
He has featured in movies such as Queen of Hasso Rock, Wasted Effort, Pay Day, Lacrima, Stoneface in Love, His Majesty, Political Control, Touching Love, Last Confession among many others.
Rich Oganiru accused of murdering wife
Sometime in 2012, the Nollywood actor was accused of allegedly murdering his multimillionaire wife. He was immediately incarcerated for the death of his wife.
According to news reports at the time, Oganiru was arrested following a petition by the family and relations of his late wife who claimed that she was poisoned by the actor so that he could acquire her wealth.
However, according to reports, the multimillionaire businesswoman was not his first wife. Mr. Oganiru’s first wife had also died mysteriously years back and he was in a very poor state of life before he met the Abuja-based multimillionaire who transformed his life in a matter of months.
Rich Oganiru, according to those who know him, “loves money and attention almost to a fault”. Aside that, he also likes blowing his own trumpet as he always praised himself. His self-appraisal on Facebook page at that time read:
“I have starred in over 300 movies, I am the Corporate Marketing Consultant to the Abuja Chapter of AGN, a high-flying Evangelist called to lead the skilled and unskilled gifted in the art to realize their God`s given potentials in the Kingdom.
“I am the General Overseer of Davidical Order Ministry. We discover, develop, expose, empower and evangelize musicians, actors, and artists to be relevant in their different churches- a non-denominational outreach for the entertainment industry”.

Details of the alleged murder case
According to some sources, the rich woman met Rich Oganiru at a time he was facing financial challenges and could hardly afford daily meals. But then, Rich was able to win the pretty woman’s heart after sweet-talking her using his acting skills.
This was how the woman brought back smile to the face of the actor to the extent that, he became financially buoyant and even started cruising one of her cars. The relationship as expected blossomed into marriage within a short period.
According to some reports, the union however took a new dimension when Rich began to complain of his wife’s inability to get pregnant knowing well she had fibroid.
The woman, however, met her untimely death a few days after a fibroid surgery when her husband was said to have visited the hospital and allegedly gave her a pill without the doctor’s consent claiming that it would aid her speedy recovery.
The doctor, knowing that his hands were clean, suggested an autopsy that shockingly revealed a poisonous pill in the woman’s system. According to the Doctor’s report, it read that the poison was ingested between the time her husband visited and the night before she died.
The nurses were also said to have seen her sleeping few minutes after Rich left not knowing that she was dead in her sleep.
However, Oganiru maintained his innocence and said on numerous occasions that he never killed his multimillionaire wife.
